Chapter 336 Proof in Black and White
Finished
Mason was still wearing yesterday’s shirt and pants. They were wrinkled; he’d slept in them all night.
The moment Amelia saw him, her expression turned into sharp guilt.
Oh no!
She didn’t need to recall the broken memories from last night. This scene had told her everything she needed to know. She must have gotten drunk and caused trouble again.
And she had gone above and beyond.
Otherwise, there was no way she would wake up in Mason’s room.
Like a thief, Amelia carefully lifted the blanket. She tiptoed onto the carpet, making almost no sound.
Her plan was simple. She wanted to slip out before Mason woke up and pretend nothing happened.
Just as her foot was about to slide into her slipper, a low, slightly hoarse voice came from the couch.
“Are you awake?”
Mason had already opened his eyes. He was lying on his side, looking at her calmly, wide awake.
He slowly sat up and rolled his stiff neck. Then he looked at her and asked evenly, “Are you sober now?”
Amelia froze. The silence was painful. She felt so awkward. Amelia hoped she could disappear.
She raised a hand and rubbed her throbbing forehead, trying to play dumb. “Still … kind of fuzzy.”
Mason watched her act innocent. A faint smile flickered in his eyes.
Of course he knew what she was doing.
“It’s fine. You can still think,” he said, calmly calling her out. “There’s no drink that keeps someone drunk all night.”
Then he patted the empty space beside him and lifted his chin. “Come here.”

No matter how nervous she felt, Amelia had no choice. She shuffled over and sat beside him on the couch. Her back was straight. She looked like a criminal waiting for a verdict.
She took a deep breath, shut her eyes, and lifted her chin, ready to face it. “Go on. What did I do last night? Just say it. 1–I can take it.”
Mason looked at her antics and finally couldn’t hold back. A low chuckle slipped out.
“It wasn’t that bad.”
The second she heard that, the tight knot in Amelia’s chest finally loosened.
She opened her eyes in surprise. Just as she was about to let out a sigh of relief, Mason calmly pulled out a folded sheet of paper from behind him.
He unfolded it and handed it to her.
It was hotel stationery, with bold characters written with black ink.
“I, Amelia Harlow, willingly and indefinitely agree to be Mason Everett’s girlfriend. I will never regret it. Signed as proof.”
Below the sentence was her own signature.
Crooked. Slanted. Almost flying off the page. Ugly in a way that was unmistakably hers.
Amelia’s cheeks turned as red as a tomato.
She stared at the paper in disbelief; even her fingers were shaking. “Th–this … where did this come from?”
Mason leaned back on the couch, amused by her shocked expression. He raised an eyebrow and asked, “Look at that signature. That mess with such a unique style, do you really think I signed it for you?”
She still looked completely lost, so he began to explain, serious and calm.
“Last night, you made me carry you all the way from the restaurant back to the hotel.
“On the way, you kept pulling my ear. You said you liked me. You said you wanted to be my girlfriend.”
Amelia’s face grew even hotter.
Mason continued, “I told you that you were drunk and that you’d forget everything when you woke up. You didn’t like that at all. You insisted you were perfectly clear–headed. To prove it,

you grabbed my hand and made me find paper and a pen. You said we had to sign it.”
He tapped the paper lightly. A faint, knowing look flashed in his eyes, his tone full of helpless
amusement.
“This.” he said, “is your masterpiece from last night.”
Amelia trusted Mason’s character.
Growing up, he had always been distant at times and warm at others, but he’d never crossed any real lines.
