Chapter 494 Waiting Outside the Door
It was the sound of the bedroom door opening, then quietly closing again.
Mason… had come in too.
The realization sent Amelia’s heart shooting straight into her throat.
There was absolutely no way she could walk out and appear naked in front of him now.
Amelia sank deeper into the water, leaving only her eyes above the surface.
She figured Mason probably wouldn’t stay in her room for that long.
Maybe he’d only come in to drop something off or check on her.
She decided to soak a little longer and figure things out after he left.
But minute after minute passed, and the bedroom outside remained silent, with no sign of anyone leaving.
It seemed like… he had come in specifically to wait for her.
As for what he had in mind, it was painfully obvious.
Leaning against the cool wall of the bathtub, Amelia’s cheeks burned as her thoughts started running wild on their own.
She couldn’t help imagining things.
The hot water gradually lost its warmth, and the air in the bathroom started to feel a little chilly.
Amelia had been in there for almost an hour now, and still hadn’t come out.
Just as she began to shiver from the cold, Mason’s voice finally came from outside the bathroom door.
He knocked twice, softly, like he was testing the waters.
“Amelia?” Mason’s voice came through the door, slightly muffled. “What’s taking so long? Are you getting dizzy in there?”
His gentle concern only made Amelia feel even more embarrassed, and after holding it in for a long time, she realized she really had no choice.
She couldn’t just stay trapped in the bathroom forever.
Biting her lower lip, she finally gave in and called out quietly through the door, sounding almost defeated. “I–I forgot to bring clothes in here with me…”
She paused for a moment, like she was trying to gather the courage to keep going. “There aren’t any towels in here either… Could you grab a set of pajamas from the closet and hand them to me?”

Chapter 494 Waiting Outside the Door
Finished
The moment the words left her mouth, she wanted nothing more than to sink completely under the water.
Outside the door, everything fell deathly silent.
Amelia could even hear her own heartbeat pounding like a drum.
Just when she started to wonder if Mason hadn’t heard her–or simply didn’t want to respond–his voice finally came from outside the door.
It sounded a little low, as if he were suppressing a faint hint of laughter… or perhaps something even deeper beneath it.
“Okay.”
A few minutes later, the bathroom door was knocked on again.
“Hey. I brought the pajamas and the towel.”
Amelia’s entire body stiffened.
He really brought them.
“I–I’m coming to open the door…” Amelia stood up shakily from the tub, water droplets sliding down her smooth skin. “Wait a moment before you come in.”
After saying that, she quickly twisted the doorknob open. Before she could even clearly see the figure outside, she hurried back to the tub and sank into the steaming water again, hiding most of her body beneath the surface and leaving only her flushed head above the water.
Mason seemed to pause outside for a moment.
He didn’t push the door open immediately; instead, he waited patiently until he heard the faint slosh of water from the bathtub, confirming Amelia had slipped back into the water and hidden.herself again. Only then did he slowly open the bathroom door.
The door creaked open softly, and warm, humid air drifted outward.
Mason’s tall figure appeared in the doorway, a neatly folded set of pajamas and a cotton bath towel in his
hands.
He first placed the clothes and towel on the wooden rack beside the bathtub.
Amelia’s heart pounded wildly as she watched him out of the corner of her eye.
But after setting them down, he didn’t turn around and leave.
The bathroom was filled with misty steam that blurred the view, yet somehow made everything feel more hazy and tempting.
Mason seemed to casually glance toward the bathtub, but at a certain moment, his gaze froze.
