Chapter 536 Different Pursuit
He knew Lily’s personality well. She never liked waiting.
But Lily had already pulled out her phone. She skillfully opened a review app and started quickly searched for ratings of the restaurant.
She scrolled through the screen without even looking up, muttering to herself, “No way! Look! Everyone online says this place is the most authentic. It’s even on the must–eat list!”
Amelia had never been too picky about food. To her, eating was just about filling her stomach. So she smiled and said, “Anything is fine with me. You two decide.”
Seeing that Lily insisted, Tim couldn’t argue with her and finally gave in. “Alright, then we’ll wait for this
one.”
Accepting his fate, he walked to the front desk, took a queue number, and led the two of them to sit in a
corner.
While they were waiting, Tim’s phone suddenly rang. It was a call from a client.
He looked at the noisy environment around them and frowned. He told Amelia and Lily, “I’m going to take this call,” then stood up and walked to a quieter corner not far away.
Amelia casually grabbed some snacks provided by the restaurant to fill her stomach and chatted with Lily about work for a while. Not long after, she got up and went to the restroom.
When she came out of the restroom and was about to head back to her seat, she noticed that Tim hadn’t returned from his call yet.
She looked in the direction where he had gone. There, she saw him crouching by the roadside across from the Cajun place. He was holding a lit cigarette, and his back looked a bit lonely.
Amelia hesitated for a moment before walking over.
She approached Tim and asked softly, “Why aren’t you going back? Lily is still over there waiting.”
Tim was startled by her voice and suddenly trembled.
He quickly put out the cigarette and threw it into a nearby trash can. He stood up a bit frantically and gave a bitter smile. “Ah… I’m just staying here for a bit. It’s too noisy over there.”
He tried his best to act like nothing was wrong, but the exhaustion that wouldn’t leave his face betrayed how he was really feeling.
Amelia was a very observant person. She could clearly sense that his mood was low, even a little depressed.
“Did you and Lily argue?”
Tim asked back, “Is it that obvious?”
Amelia shrugged. “Not really, I just have a feeling.”
Chapter 536 Different Pursuit
+5 Pearl:
Tim let out a bitter laugh, and his gaze was complicated.
He lowered his head and spoke in a dull voice, as if he had been holding these words in for a long time. Sigh… we didn’t really argue. We just debated a little about having children.
My point was that we should just let things happen naturally. If we have one, we’ll raise it. If we don’t, we’ll wait. But Lily seems to think that having a child would seriously hurt her career. She says she’s currently in rising phase, and opportunities are hard to come by, so she isn’t considering kids for now. She even said I’m being too old–school.”
He said those last few words very quietly, with a hint of self–mockery.
‘But in the end, I still compromised and respected her decision.”
Amelia looked at the longing expression on Tim’s face when he talked about children and understood
mmediately. “So you really want a child?”
Tim scratched his head and smiled awkwardly. “That’s part of it. I grew up as an only child. My house was always quiet. I always feel that if there were a child, the house would feel much more lively and full of life.”
Amelia understood the real difference between the two of them.
