Chapter 559 Evan’s Condition
Amelia shook her head. “It’s nothing. Everything’s been taken care of.”
She didn’t go into the messy details about the Harlows. She didn’t want Nora to worry.
Hearing that Amelia was fine, Nora let out a sigh of relief.

She took a closer look at Amelia’s slightly pale face and asked with concern, “Are you hungry? You look like you didn’t get any sleep last night. I’ll go make you something to eat.” She was about to stand up.
“No, it’s fine. I’ll do it myself,” Amelia quickly stopped her.
But before she could finish speaking, Mason had already turned and walked straight into the kitchen.
Not long after, the kitchen filled with faint sounds, and then Mason came out holding a plate of
pasta.
On top was a perfectly cooked sunny–side–up egg, with a few spinach leaves added for a splash of green. It looked simple but very tempting.
He placed the pasta in front of Amelia. “Eat something first. I’ll make something really good for you tonight.”
Looking at the pasta that was made with such care, Amelia finally realized how empty her stomach was. Hunger hit her immediately.
Meanwhile, in the yard, Evan had been napping in the morning light and was slowly waking up.
He gently opened his eyes and saw Kaia sitting nearby. A weak smile formed on his lips. “Kaia… did Amelia come over?”
Kaia blinked in surprise, closed her book, and asked curiously, “How did you know? Haven’t you been able to sleep?”
Evan shook his head, his voice a little hoarse but calm. “I slept for a bit. But when Mason went out, I faintly heard the sound of a helicopter. I think… he probably went to pick up Amelia.”
Kaia’s expression softened into a gentle smile as she nodded. “Yeah, she’s here. But you were sleeping so soundly, I didn’t want to disturb you.”
By the time Mason and Amelia returned to the yard, the morning sunlight had completely pierced the thin mist. It was golden and warm, carrying the gentle breeze in the morning.

One sitting, one standing, talking softly. The morning light fell gently on them, making the scene look incredibly peaceful, as if it had stepped right out of a painting.
Kaia’s profile carried a tender smile, and although Evan still looked pale, there was a faint happiness in his expression.
Sensing something, Evan slowly turned his head and saw Mason and Amelia not far away.
His gaze lingered on Mason for a moment. His voice was weak but hopeful. “The weather’s nice today… Mason, come help me. I want to walk a few steps.”
Mason strode forward, his voice steady. “Alright.”
Then he turned to Amelia. “Amelia, wait right here for me.”
Looking at Evan’s thin frame, Amelia felt worried.
She stepped forward and asked softly, “Do you need help? Should I support the other side?”
Kaia walked over just in time and shook her head. “No need, Amelia. Mason can handle him by himself.”
Mason crouched slightly and supported Evan. Evan reached out, gripping Mason’s shoulders and cooperating as best he could. With Mason’s strong support, he actually managed to slowly stand up from his wheelchair.
Amelia held her breath, watching the scene unfold before her.
Evan was about the same height as Mason, but his legs, weakened from so much time in bed and in a wheelchair, looked unusually thin and even slightly bent in an unnatural way.
Amelia’s memories seemed to pull her back to a distant past, to the tall, strong, and spirited Evan who had once stood before her like a towering tree.
But now… she could barely remember what he looked like as the full, healthy man from her memories.
Now, even just taking a small step requires so much effort.
Amelia felt her eyes sting as a wave of indescribable sadness and worry washed over her.
