Chapter 561 You Two Are Quick
These little changes made Amelia feel that maybe she had been worrying too much before.
People are soft–hearted, after all, especially when facing a new life about to arrive.
Who could really be cruel at a time like this?
Winter had arrived, and Christmas was near.
The city streets were already covered with all kinds of colorful lights.
Time flew by in the middle of busy work, and before she knew it, the company’s holiday break was just around the corner.
During this period, Mason had come back twice.
Each time, he only stayed at home for a short while.
Most of the time, he was at Evan’s side, personally supervising the renovation of the rehabilitation house.
Even though Amelia missed him, she understood his dedication. At night, when everything was quiet, she couldn’t help but hug her phone, looking over the few photos they had together.
To make Christmas more lively and give Evan a cozier environment to recover, the Everetts decided that this year, everyone would spend the holidays in Preston’s courtyard.
The day before the break, Mason finally finished the most important tasks there and drove back into the city.
As soon as Amelia went downstairs, she saw his car parked in front of the Stardale Group. The glow of the sunset stretched his tall figure long and sharp. Leaning against the car door, his eyes scanned through the bustling crowd and locked perfectly onto her as she stepped out of the building.
The moment Amelia saw him, her heart skipped a beat. She ran quickly toward him, and he pulled her into his arms, holding her tight.
“I’m here to take you home,” Mason’s deep voice sounded in her ear, soft and full of care.
That evening, they had plans to have dinner with Tim and Lily.
Amelia and Mason arrived first and ordered some drinks.
Before long, the private dining room door opened, and Tim and Lily walked in, one after the

At first glance, Amelia noticed something different about Lily.
Lily used to be the perfect example of a career woman.

Her makeup was always flawless, bright red lips, a sharply tailored suit, and three–inch heels. She walked with confidence, her presence so strong that it made people avoid looking directly at her.
But today, she looked like a completely different person.
Her face had no makeup. Her clean complexion looked a little pale under the warm yellow light, but it also seemed softer.
She wore a loose coat that hid her figure completely, and on her feet were flat, soft leather ankle boots.
She had taken off all her sharp edges and confidence, and now seemed gentle and calm.
“You’re here! Have a seat,” Amelia said, standing to greet them. Her eyes, however, lingered on Lily for a few extra seconds.
Mason obviously noticed too. He stood, pulled out a chair for Lily, and with a slight raise of his eyebrows, asked with a mix of curiosity and playful teasing, “Ms. Rayne, why the new look today? I almost didn’t recognize you.”
Tim took a small pause as he stepped forward, then cleared his throat awkwardly and answered for Lily, “Uh… yeah, there’s a bit going on.”
His explanation was vague, but Mason was sharp–he caught the key point almost instantly.
He gave a knowing “oh“, his eyes glancing between Tim and Lily before settling on Tim. A meaningful smile tugged at his lips. “You two are quick,” he said.
Then, almost instinctively, he turned his gaze toward Amelia. There was a teasing glint in his eyes, as if he were hinting at something.
But Amelia was busy sipping the coffee the waiter had just served. She didn’t notice Mason’s loaded look at all–she just thought Lily seemed a bit tired today.
Lily watched the exchange clearly, like looking in a mirror.
She wanted to take this chance to give Mason a little nudge, to make him act instead of just watching.
