Chapter 89

Bethany sat on the edge of the bed, talking to Holly on the phone.

Beth, I just shared that wedding photo from your feed to mine!

Bethany froze. Holly, you-

I did it on purpose! I wanted to rub it in Uncle Noah’s face! Since he’s so hung up on that little bitch, I wanted to show him that you’re doing great without him!

Don’t worry, Beth. Mr. Brennan’s face isn’t visible in that photo. Even if he asks me, I won’t tell him a thing!

It wasn’t that Holly wanted to hide things from her uncle. She just thought her friend should be the one to announce the news herself when she was ready.

Marrying her ex’s sworn enemy? Holly thought that would make an incredibly satisfying ending!

Bethany laughed. You’re something else. Well, what’s done is done.

She hadn’t been trying to hide the post from anyone anyway. If Silas hadn’t insisted, she probably would have just posted the

solo shot.

She opened the photo again. Would Noah recognize Silas from just the latter’s silhouette?

Someone knocked on the door, and Bethany lifted her gaze from her phone. Holly, someone’s at the door. I’ll talk to you later.

Okay, go ahead!Holly hung up cheerfully.

Bethany held her phone and opened the door to find the man outside holding his phone.

Silas pointed to the screen. Dad wants to video chat with you.

Bethany let him in and took the phone. “Hello, Jeremy.

Jeremy stroked his beard happily. Are you having fun, Beth? That rascal hasn’t been giving you trouble, has he?

Bethany shook her head. No, don’t worry. Everything’s fine here.

Good. I heard that one of your stops was hit by a typhoon. It’s a good thing you changed locations, or you would’ve been trapped indoors all day.

Bethany had to admit their luck had been good.

They’d gone to the snowy mountains first. When they tried to reach that island, they ran into the typhoon and simply moved locations. Everything had gone smoothly.

Beth, my useless son doesn’t know anything. Please be patient with him. If he makes you angry, tell me, and I’ll set him straight when you get back!

Bethany laughed and chatted briefly before hanging up.

Silas looked at her with an ambiguous smile on his face. I’m starting to wonder which of us is actually his biological child.

Bethany handed him the phone. “Here.

Silas turned toward the door, but when he tried the handle, it wouldn’t open.

Bethany frowned and walked over. What’s wrong? The door won’t open?

She tried it too. It really wouldn’t budge.

Silas clicked his tongue. That old man’s playing tricks again!

Bethany looked surprised. You’re saying that Jeremy had someone lock this door?

Yeah.

They were back on the cruise ship, already returning home now. Even if they wanted to call for help, there was little the others could do.
