“No, you’re wrong. The only one I’ve ever cared about is you,” he said firmly.
“Callie, I wasn’t going to tell you any of this. Maybe it would have been better if you never knew. But I know how smart you are. After I’m gone from this world, you’ll eventually piece things together from the clues I leave behind. So, I decided it would be better to tell you everything myself.”
“Callie, when I’m gone, I don’t want you to be sad. I’ve left everything to you. I’ve already made all the arrangements, and if you ever run into trouble, people will be there to help you.”
“I know you might not choose another man right now, but I hope that someday you’ll find someone else to love. You can rest assured that while I might be jealous, I truly want you to be cherished and cared for. When that day comes, I won’t know anyway, so you can choose freely.”
Calliope listened as each of his words sounded more and more like a final goodbye. It was as if he was preparing to leave the world for good.
She shot up from her seat, rushed to his side, and grabbed his wrist, her medical instincts taking over as she checked his vitals. A moment later, she frowned.
“What are you talking about? You’re not sick!” She had thought he was suffering from a terminal illness, but his body was perfectly healthy.
“I don’t have a terminal illness, but I am going to leave this world,” Silas said, his voice gentle but firm. “Callie, there’s no solution. My death is certain. I’m sorry I can’t stay with you forever.”
“The reason I didn’t want children was because I was afraid it would be too hard on you to raise a child alone after I’m gone. You deserve to find someone new someday. I wanted you to be free.”

That's weird, in the first chapters there was said that her bio parents and bros doteď on Caliope but then they adopted Lisette, but this chapter suddenly says otherwise. Did author forget what he wrote?...
