Sierra rummaged through her bag frantically. She couldn't afford to lose the marriage certificate she had just gotten.
Theo grabbed her hand and said in a deep voice, "I've put it away."
Sierra let out a sigh of relief before she gave him a puzzled look. "That's my marriage certificate…"
Why did Theo take it away from her?
She hadn't finished her sentence, but he could tell what her concern was. He said in the most natural tone, "I'm worried that you might lose it. It's safer to let me keep it."
Sierra found it to be slightly weird. She glanced at him, but she didn't say anything else.
Theo's heart instantly softened when he noticed how obedient she was, and he tightened his grip over her hand.
Meanwhile, Adrian watched the couple through the rearview mirror. He stifled a laugh when he heard the way Theo sweet-talked Sierra.
"Theo. Do you think Grandpa Edward would be mad when he learned that we got married?" This was the first time she hid something this huge from the family elder, and she felt a little diffident about it.
Theo comforted her calmly, "No. He would be thrilled."
Edward wouldn't care if Sierra was his daughter-in-law or granddaughter-in-law, as long as he got to keep her in the Gray family.
Theo glanced at Sierra, who looked guilty, and his gaze turned affectionate.
"Don't worry. I've got your back. Also, stop calling me Uncle Theo. You'll mislead anyone who hears it." He didn't elaborate on how she would mislead people, but she was already blushing.
If Sierra couldn't address him as uncle, then how would she address him?
She looked so troubled that her face scrunched up in conflict. Theo saw the look on her face and found it adorable. He couldn't stop himself from reaching out.
Sierra felt someone pinching her cheek and turned around to look at him with a dazed expression.
"Uncle Theo…" Then, she corrected herself. "Theo. What are you doing?"
Sierra's cheeks were burning up, and she was staring at him with her delicate eyes.
Benson walked through the door, and he was stunned when he saw Sierra and Theo getting out of the car.
"Let me help you with your purse, Cee."
Sierra saw how he was trying to curry favor with her, and she ducked out of the way. "I don't need your help."
Benson noticed how cold and distant she was, and he felt a little dejected but immediately perked up. He caught up to her and deliberately stood between her and Theo, who was walking behind him.
He said softly, "Grandpa deliberately called you back because he wanted us to patch things up, Cee. You have to forgive me. I give you my word that I will never be with another lady. You will be the love of my…"
Then, Benson grimaced. "Why is it suddenly chilly?"
He was showing Sierra how loyal and loving he was when he suddenly felt chills down his spine. Then, he turned around, feeling puzzled. When he met Theo's icy gaze, he rooted to where he stood.
Theo seized the moment and caught up to Sierra, walking side by side with her.
Edward saw them both enter the manor together, and his eyes sparkled. He grinned as he waved at her. "Over here, Cee. Let me see if you've lost some weight."
