A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo) novel Chapter 290

Yvette stared at the person in the photo and nearly bit her tongue in shock. She froze on the spot.

"Benson?" Douglas exclaimed while pointing at Sierra. "So, you're that vicious fiancée of Benson!"

The color drained from Sierra's face, and her smile faltered. A deep sense of helplessness and sorrow washed over her.

She had chased after Benson for so many years, only to be left with the label "vicious". What had it all been for?

Just as she felt like falling into an icy abyss, a strong arm pulled her into a warm embrace. Her cheek pressed against a firm chest as a sour ache welled up in her nose before tears slipped down her face.

Feeling the warmth against his chest, Theo tensed up. A flicker of pain flashed through his eyes as he looked at Douglas with displeasure.

Douglas realized his mistake and looked around for help guiltily.

Yvette, the one who had brought the matter up, looked apologetic. She carefully apologized, "Sierra, I'm sorry... I didn't know..."

She held her phone awkwardly, stumbling over her words.

Sierra knew they hadn't mentioned Benson on purpose, and she also knew that the nickname of "vicious fiancée" had come from Benson's friends and Sophie. So, she didn't blame Yvette.

After taking a moment to collect herself, she smiled faintly. "It's fine. That's all in the past."

Yvette breathed a sigh of relief and admired Sierra's grace even more. She glared at Douglas. "You actually believe the nonsense those guys around Benson spout? I've heard about Sophie. Total fake."

For once, Douglas didn't talk back. Looking sheepish, he turned to Sierra. "Well—"

Before he could finish, Yvette interrupted. "So, what's going on with you and Theo?"

Sierra blinked and looked confused at Yvette's sudden change of topic. She wasn't used to her fast-paced way of chatting. Her innocent expression made everyone smile, but the curiosity in their eyes shifted toward Theo.

Sierra's cheeks flushed slightly. She hesitated and looked at Theo for help.

Douglas, watching the drama unfold, hesitated before finally blurting out, "Was the news about you and Benson true?"

Before he could get another word in, Theo picked up a cushion and threw it at him with a gloomy expression.

Seeing how protective he was of Sierra, the group was a little taken aback.

Theo—who had never cared about women—had actually found someone he was willing to stand up for.

Not wanting them to misunderstand, Sierra pressed her lips together and explained honestly, "Benson and I had an arranged engagement since childhood. But he was more interested in Sophie, so we broke it off.

"Grandpa Edward hopes I can stay in Gray Manor, so..."
