As soon as her feet landed on the ground, Sierra was flushed, commenting shyly, "I'm usually quite brave, but it was just too dark inside."
Theo nodded with a smile, not exposing her obvious fear of ghosts. Then, he looked at the time and said, It's 8:00 pm. Let's have dinner now."
She took a few steps before looking at her latte regretfully. "Oh no. I had too much earlier, so I don't think I can finish this."
Just as she was hesitating whether she should throw her drink away or bring it home, he reached out to take it away from her hand.
Then, he casually finished the rest of her drink, threw the cup in the trash bin, and walked back to hold her hand. "Let's go."
Eyes widening in shock, Sierra looked at him in confusion. "I just drank from that straw."
He smiled faintly, elaborating, "As husband and wife, we are one."
Her face instantly reddened as she collected her gaze. She tried feigning nonchalance but ended up walking away awkwardly instead.
It was just an indirect kiss, and it's not like they had never kissed each other on the lips. She was definitely not feeling flustered or anything!
…
At around 10:00 pm, Theo and Sierra arrived home after finishing their dinner.
She went to take a shower while he went to his study to look through an important contract.
Once Sierra was done, she came out to see Theo sitting on the bed with a book. She climbed onto their bed and asked, "Don't you have to work overtime today?"
Putting his book down, he pulled her into his embrace. "I was worried that you'd be scared to be alone here."
Freezing momentarily, she glared at him and said embarrassedly, "You're just overthinking things. I'm not scared at all."
He chuckled as he pulled her closer toward him. "Oh, is it? Then, can you tell me what on earth has happened in school today?"
After having been misunderstood and humiliated by Benson, she had not held much hope for love and would not have been swayed so easily.
She had only accepted Theo because he had supported her unconditionally and respected all her boundaries. More importantly, she could feel that she was special in her eyes.
Under the covers, Theo's tense legs relaxed. After realizing how nervous he had been, he laughed self-deprecatingly. As it turned out, there were times when he couldn't keep his cool!
Looking at Sierra, who was still pouting, he quietly tightened his arms around her.
…
Around midnight, Theo had been smacked awake. He remained dazed for a few seconds before turning to look at Sierra, who was fast asleep.
However, he was met with the sight of her flailing her arms around, while her brows were knitted tightly together. It was clear that she was having a nightmare.
Remembering the movie they had just watched, he immediately understood what was happening as he grabbed her hands and pulled her into his embrace. "Don't be afraid. I'm here."
