Chapter 447
THIRD POV
The room fell quiet the moment Alexander walked out.
A heavy quiet.
The kind that settled after something explosive had just happened.
Faye hesitated briefly at the doorway, her eyes shifting toward Roman once again.
He was still sitting there looking drained, sweat clinging to his skin, his breathing steady now.
Then she followed after Alexander.
And just like that-
It was only Helen and Roman left in the room.
For a long moment, neither of them spoke.
Roman took a deep breath, his muscles still feeling strained from whatever the magic had done to
him.
There was lingering pressure beneath his skin.
An unnatural heaviness sitting inside his chest.
But compared to earlier-
He was stabilizing far too quickly.
Helen stood across from him, watching him with an intensity Roman found deeply uncomfortable.
It didn’t look like anger to him.
That was the strange part.
After everything he had done-
After tampering with her ritual items behind her back-
Helen did not look angry.
If anything-
She looked intrigued.
Helen looked at him like she was trying to pull something apart in her head.

Like he had suddenly become a puzzle she needed to solve.
Roman exhaled slowly before finally speaking first.
“I should apologize to you too,” he said quietly.
Helen didn’t react.
Roman swallowed slightly.
“I know I messed with your ritual,” he continued. “But you gave me no choice.”
Still nothing.
“I came to you directly,” Roman added. “And you turned me away. So I found another way.”
Helen interrupted him immediately.
“Who are you?”
Roman blinked once.
The question genuinely caught him off guard.
His brows pulled together faintly.
“What?”
Helen’s expression never changed.
“Who are you?” she repeated calmly.
Roman stared at her for a second before answering carefully.
“I’m Roman.”
Helen tilted her head slightly.
“You know exactly what I mean.”
Something about the way she said it made the room feel colder.
Roman frowned faintly now.
Then Helen asked again-
“Who are you really?”
Roman let out a short laugh despite himself.
It wasn’t that anything was funny.

It was mostly because the question sounded ridiculous.
“Ma’am, I have no answer to your question.”
Helen stayed silent.
Roman shook his head slightly.
“I only know my name,” he said to her. “Nothing more.”
His voice lowered a little.
“And I’m pretty sure you already heard that.”
He gestured faintly toward himself.
“It’s true.”
But Helen cut him off before he could continue.
“Cut the crap.”
The sharpness in her voice immediately wiped the faint amusement off Roman’s face.
Helen took a slow step toward him.
“I’m not buying it.”
Roman’s jaw tightened slightly.
“With all due respect-” Roman started.
“I am not like everybody else around here,” Helen said firmly.
She took another step.
Now her eyes stayed locked directly onto his.
“And right now,” she continued evenly, “it’s just the two of us in this room.”
Roman said nothing.
“So you can drop the act.”
Roman raised his eyebrows.
What act was the Alpha’s mother talking about?
And why was she sounding like that? She sounded absolutely certain.
Like she already believed there was something hidden underneath him.

Roman slowly pushed himself fully to his feet despite the lingering weakness in his body.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Helen watched him carefully.
Then she spoke again.
Chim
“I was told,” she said slowly, “that you claimed to share the same strange dream as Faye the other
night.”
Roman’s expression shifted faintly.
“That’s true.”
Helen continued immediately.
“And according to Alexander, you were able to recognize parts of the incantation spoken in the
dream.”
Roman hesitated only briefly before nodding.
“Yes.”
“And translate it,” Helen said.
Roman swallowed once. “A little.”
Helen’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Then she continued.
“And tonight…”
Her gaze slowly moved over him again.
“You successfully survived a dark binding ritual that should have overwhelmed a regular wolf
completely.”
Roman’s face hardened slightly at that.
Helen ignored it.
“If not killed him outright,” she added calmly, “then at the very least caused severe internal damage.
Roman instinctively looked away briefly.
Because the truth was-

He had felt it.
That ritual nearly tore him apart.
The energy that rushed through him earlier hadn’t felt normal.
It felt violent.
Heavy enough to crush him from the inside.
Helen noticed his silence immediately.
“And here you are,” she continued softly, “…standing on your feet just seconds later.”
Roman didn’t answer.
He didn’t know how to.
Because suddenly-
He wasn’t entirely sure what explanation even existed anymore.
Everything was becoming harder to dismiss as coincidence.
Helen watched the conflict move across his face carefully.
And that alone told her enough.
Roman didn’t have answers either.
Interesting…
Very interesting.
Roman remained tense where he stood.
“There’s something about you, Roman,” Helen said quietly.
There was unmistakable certainty in her voice.
Helen’s gaze remained fixed on Roman as she added calmly-
“And I’m going to figure out what it is.”
Helen smiled knowingly.
And before Roman could respond…
Helen left.
