ALEXANDER
His laughter echoed through the clearing long after he stopped speaking.
Mocking… Satisfied.
Like he genuinely believed they had already won.
Honestly, under different circumstances, maybe another man would have hesitated standing where I was right now.
Alone.
Surrounded by hostile wolves inside enemy territory… on a full moon.
But fear wasn’t what I felt.
Not even close.
Darren slowly spread his arms slightly as he looked around the clearing.
“I’ve heard about you,” he said. “Alexander Blackwell.”
His tone carried amusement now.
“Funny that we’ve never officially met before.”
I said nothing.
My eyes remained on him.
Darren tilted his head faintly before continuing.
“But even you should be smart enough to recognize when you’re outnumbered.”
That finally made me glance around properly.
There were a lot of them.
Stonevale warriors surrounding the clearing from nearly every direction.
Elders too.
More movement hidden deeper between the trees.
And every single one of them looked ready to attack the second this man, whom I assumed was Darren, fully unleashed them.

Chapter 480-1
Low growls continued rumbling throughout the clearing.
Fangs exposed.
Claws extended.
Aggression thickened the air almost violently.
Still-
Not enough.
Not enough to take me down.
I folded my arms slowly across my chest instead.
Darren noticed.
And I could tell the reaction irritated him slightly.
Good.
“Sorry to hear the girl was your mate,” he continued casually.
The way he referred to Faye made something dangerous move inside me instantly.
But I remained calm.
Darren gestured carelessly toward the altar behind him.
“But you should understand something.” He smirked. “She came here willingly.”
My jaw tightened faintly.
“No one forced her.”
I looked toward Faye then.
And for one brief second-
Everything else around me disappeared.
The clearing.
The wolves.
The noise.
All of it.
All I saw was her lying there motionless beneath that white robe.

She looked so pale.
The moonlight against her skin made the sight even worse somehow.
Something inside my chest twisted violently.
But I buried it immediately.
Because this was not the time.
“The deed is already done,” he continued. “The ritual has been sealed.”
“So I suggest you go home before I stop holding these wolves back and let them tear you apart.”
Because if I engaged these wolves directly and gave him even five uninterrupted seconds near Faye-
He would rip her heart out.
And if that happened-
Everything would be over.
Claim
I already knew Kyle and the others had begun engaging Stonevale forces outside the territory by now.
That had been the plan.
Cause chaos outside.
Pull numbers away from the center.
Force confusion, clear the path to make extraction easier.
But timing mattered.
And right now, I was still alone in this clearing.
Which meant until my wolves reached this area-
I had to handle this myself.
My eyes shifted briefly toward the woman standing by the altar.
The witch had gone quiet now.
Watching me carefully.
Not afraid.

Concerned.
Like she was trying to understand what she missed.
Darren took my silence as hesitation,
