A Warrior’s Second Chance novel Chapter 358

ALEXANDER

Everything happened too fast.

One second we were talking, the next, Faye was yelling at me.

“Watch it!”

Faye’s voice cut through the air, sharp with panic.

My body reacted before my mind could catch up. My foot slammed against the brake, the car jerking violently as the tires screeched against the road.

The steering wheel shifted under my grip as I fought to keep control, my instincts taking over as I veered slightly to the side and forced the car to a stop.

For a brief second, there was nothing but the sound of the engine idling too loudly in the silence that followed,

My pulse was already elevated, my grip tight on the wheel as I turned to her immediately.

“What is it?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended, but still controlled.

She didn’t answer.

Before I could even process it, she was already moving–pushing the door open, stepping out of the car like she couldn’t get away fast enough.

“Faye-”

I was out of the car a second later.

The door shut behind me harder than necessary as I quickly moved around to her side, my eyes scanning her first before anything else.

She looked-

Off

Her gaze was darting around the road, searching desperately.

Like she was trying to find something that should have been there.

“What is it?” I asked again, stepping closer to her. “What happened?”

Her breathing was uneven, her attention flicking from one point to another like she was chasing something just out of reach.

“There was-” she started, then stopped, shaking her head slightly as if trying to piece it together. “I saw–there was someone”

Her words were coming out scattered.

Unsteady

I stepped closer, my brows pulling together as I watched her.

“Faye,” I said firmly.

She kept looking past me.

Like I wasp needed to focus on.

The words landed.

And for a second, I just stared at her

“What?” I said.

Her expression was serious,

“There was a man,” she continued, her voice still slightly breathless but clearer now. “He was right in front of the car. And-” she exhaled sharply, her hands twitching slightly like she was replaying it in her mind. “You hit him.”

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Because I knew-

That hadn’t happened.

Still, I glanced past her, my eyes scanning the road, the surroundings, every possible angle.

Nothing,

No one.

Her gaze lowered for a second before she looked back at me.

Like she had already started to accept it.

Whatever she had seen-

It hadn’t been real.

I studied her for a moment longer, my concern not easing even as she seemed to settle.

Slowly, I lifted a hand, brushing a few strands of hair away from her face, tucking them back gently.

“Are you alright?” I asked.

She nodded.

It wasn’t fully convincing.

But it was enough for now.

She stepped back slightly after that. Then she turned and walked back toward the car, getting in without another word.

I watched her for a second.

And that was when it clicked.

A vision.

Or something close enough to it that couldn’t ignore the getter

And with the way she had been earlier the dismissary these it lined up too easily.

Either she had seen something again…

Or whatever was going on with her today was starting so dum into somgege

Neither option set well with me,

I exhaled slowly, my gaze lingering on the case by.
