Vincent didn't even spare Summer a glance.
He pulled the weeping Iris into his arms.
Seeing her disheveled hair, the clear handprint on her face, and the scratches on the skin exposed by her gown, his heart ached for her.
At the same time, a burning hatred for the two culprits on the floor consumed him.
Alan scrambled to his feet, pointing an accusing finger at Vincent. "Are you blind? She started it! She was hurting sweet Summer! How can you be so shameless, you..."
"What? What did you say?" Vincent cut him off before he could finish, his anger flaring.
To hear another man call his wife by such an intimate nickname...
Even he, her husband, had never called her that.
Vincent's eyes turned dark and menacing.
The cold pressure emanating from him was so intense that even Iris, nestled in his arms, could feel it.
Alan, interrupted by Vincent's outburst, was momentarily confused, unsure what he was referring to.
Iris, still in Vincent's arms, immediately seized the opportunity, her voice choked with sobs.
"Vincent, this man is Summer's... friend. I saw them coming out of the VIP lounge together just now."
When Alan heard Iris's words, he didn't see anything wrong with them.
He and Summer were friends, in a way. Janina's friend was his friend, even if they had only known each other for less than two hours.
Alan didn't know who Vincent was, but he could tell that he knew sweet Summer.
He was about to expose Iris's lies and clear Summer's name.
But Vincent, upon hearing Iris's words, exploded. Summer was cheating on him with another man.
Before, Summer had never had any male friends other than him.
And if she did, they were mutual friends that they both knew.
Vincent's deadly gaze fell on Summer, who was still writhing in pain on the floor. He spoke, each word dripping with venom.
"Summer, how dare you betray me. And stop the act! I knew you hadn't just disappeared. You were out finding another man. Fine. Just fine."
