Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 270

She didn't dare let her guard down for a second. Every so often, she would go to the bassinet and place a hand near the baby's nose, only feeling at ease when she felt the soft puff of breath against her skin.

Just when she thought Vivian and her daughter were safely through the ordeal, disaster struck.

Around 8 PM, Vivian suddenly developed a high fever. Her body was burning up, and she fell into a deep, unresponsive state.

Janina noticed immediately and called for a nurse.

The doctor arrived with the nurse, and in a matter of minutes, the room was a flurry of activity as medical staff rushed in and out. It seemed Vivian's condition was serious.

Just then, Janina noticed something was wrong with the baby in the bassinet. She rushed over and saw that the newborn was running a fever too.

In an instant, the entire room descended into chaos.

The patient in the next bed, who had had her surgery at 3 PM, was recovering well with her healthy baby boy. Seeing the commotion around Vivian, she grew worried and whispered to her husband.

"Keep a close eye on the baby. Don't get involved."

"I know," the man nodded.

He pulled his own baby's bassinet closer, not daring to look away.

Before long, Janina saw a nurse hurrying into the room with Jensen, Madonna trailing behind him.

The nurse must have called him, since Vivian was his patient.

Worried about being spotted, Janina turned her back to them and focused completely on the sick baby.

Jensen started by giving Vivian a full checkup.

Her condition was serious. He said it was a postpartum infection that required immediate treatment. If they couldn't get it under control, it could be life-threatening.

Vivian's husband and mother-in-law were terrified.

Her husband was so scared he could barely speak. "Dr. Parnell, please, you have to save my wife!"

Her mother-in-law stood by, wiping away tears. She had been perfectly fine when she came out of surgery. How could things have gotten so serious so quickly?

But now, this...

The man felt nothing but fear and heartbreak.

In his mind, Dr. Parnell was a brilliant doctor, the star of New Vista Medical Center. If anyone could save his wife and child, it was him.

Jensen gestured for the man to sit.

The man, his face contorted with anguish, sank into the chair across from Jensen.

A nurse brought him a glass of water, which only made him more anxious.

The longer the doctor remained silent, the more serious the situation must be.

The man shot back to his feet, his body trembling, his eyes turning red.

"Dr. Parnell, just tell me, what's wrong with my wife and baby? Why did they suddenly get such high fevers? Now they're both unconscious..."
