She was still young; she didn't want to waste her life like this.
And Clark wasn't the only rich man in the world.
Marjorie made up her mind. Today, she would shatter Clark's hypocritical facade.
"And what about your Jasmine? You two were going at it in the restroom just yesterday. Forgotten so soon?"
Her expression was calm, so calm it was as if she were talking about someone else's life.
This time, Clark was truly panicked.
Yesterday…
His eyes fixed on Marjorie, guilt-ridden, before quickly looking away.
So, she knew everything.
It was over.
He and Marjorie were completely finished.
Years of a relationship had come to an end.
Clark neither confirmed nor denied it. He simply asked Marjorie one question.
"Will you give me one last chance to make it up to you? I promise I'll never get involved with them again. We can just live our lives together, okay?"
Even though he knew she wouldn't believe him again, Clark still had to try.
"Do you take me for a fool? Let's just part on good terms. I’ve given you years of my life; I deserve something to show for it. I want a settlement—consider it back pay for the years I wasted on a man like you"
Marjorie's gaze was icy, showing no lingering attachment to their relationship.
"Compensation..." Clark started to argue, but when he met the disappointment in her eyes, he shut his mouth.
After all the time they'd been together, he was willing to give it to her.
None of his women had ever spoken ill of him behind his back.
Clark agreed on the spot. "Fine. I'll transfer five million to your account tomorrow."
In this respect, Clark prided himself on being generous, at least when it came to women.
Anything that could be solved with money wasn't a real problem.
It was the weekend.
The group of friends had met up for dinner.
Janina opened her phone's photo album and excitedly showed it to her three best friends.
"My independent brand is about to launch. I'll get you all a set when it's out."
"Wow, our star designer is finally her own boss!" Melody was genuinely happy for Janina.
"Once you're established, I'll have to promote you to all my clients."
"Oh my god! A woman focused on her career is the most attractive. Let me give you a hug and soak up some of that good luck," Wendy Clifford said, pulling Janina into a loving embrace.
"I think you're hoping for a baby, not just luck!" Maggie couldn't resist teasing Wendy.
Wendy shot Maggie a look. "Don't be ridiculous. We haven't... we haven't gotten to that step yet."
Melody immediately sensed gossip and raised an eyebrow with a smile.
"What step is that? Have you slept together yet or...?"
