After he finished speaking, Julius ignored Janina and walked briskly toward the elevators with Wayne.
"Julius! You bastard!" Janina seethed, chasing after them.
"Get rid of her," Julius commanded. Immediately, several security guards surrounded Janina, grabbing her by the arms and dragging her out.
Janina yelled at the man's retreating back.
"Julius, you're not a man! Some CEO you are, can't even spare five million!"
"We can negotiate the money! I'll be waiting for you tonight..."
Employees just arriving in the lobby had no idea what was happening. To them, Janina's words sounded like she was offering the CEO a private meeting, free of charge...
Undeterred, Janina sat outside the Aurelius Group building and immediately called her lawyer.
The lawyer redrafted two new divorce agreements: one with a four-million-dollar settlement, the other with her leaving with nothing.
If Julius was feeling generous, he might agree to the four million. If he still refused, she would have to leave with nothing.
Even if she didn't get a single penny, she had to get divorced. Once she was free, she could get a job and never be under anyone's control again.
Less than an hour later, the lawyer delivered the two different agreements.
Janina bought some milk, bread, and snacks from a nearby convenience store and sat on a bench, eating and waiting. It wasn't until six in the evening that Julius and his assistant finally emerged from the building.
Julius was on the phone as he walked. The moment Wayne stepped outside, he spotted Janina standing a short distance away.
"Wait," Janina called out to Julius.
But Julius was on the phone and didn't respond, taking a few steps to the side.
Janina wasn't in a hurry. She would wait for him to finish his call.
Wayne was Julius's personal assistant and knew the couple's affairs well. He, too, thought Janina was just throwing a tantrum.
Wayne was shocked again.
Although she had been married to the CEO for less than three years, he had seen firsthand the depth of her feelings for him.
Everything she ate, everything she wore, everything she used—it was all picked to match the CEO's taste.
And she had been in love with him for over a decade. Could she really just give it all up?
"Mrs. Aurelius, you..." Wayne trailed off, unable to finish his sentence.
Janina knew what he wanted to say. He was probably wondering why, after loving Julius for so long, she would suddenly want a divorce.
Janina murmured softly, "Loving him was too exhausting. I'm choosing to let us both go."
Wayne still found it incredible. He was about to try and persuade her further when he saw Julius end his call and walk toward them.
