“Liam and Joy have been poisoned. It’s serious. I need to treat them immediately. If I’m too late, the kids will have brain damage.” Before Janina could even get close, Fairchild’s bombshell nearly made her collapse.

Janina stumbled toward Fairchild, grabbing his arm, her eyes wide with lingering terror. “Fairchild, are you saying the children… were poisoned? How… how could this happen?”

She couldn’t form a complete sentence. Her tongue felt heavy, and tears streamed down her face instantly.

Liam and Joy were so young. All their food was prepared at home; they never ate out. Their formula and rice cereal were international brands that other children also used. As for their solid food, the ingredients were always fresh. She couldn’t imagine how the two children could have been poisoned.

But if Fairchild was certain they were poisoned, then there was no doubt.

Fairchild continued to prepare the medicinal herbs in his hands, glancing at Janina. “And you’re just as useless. The kids are poisoned, and you’re poisoned yourself. Can’t you feel anything wrong with your body?”

Janina then recounted all of her own symptoms, as well as Liam and Joy’s, in detail.

After listening, Fairchild frowned and said flatly, “The poison you all have is lethal. The initial symptoms are lethargy and fever. In the mid-stage, it causes brain damage. After another year or two, it’s fatal.”

Janina’s senses went on high alert. She leaned closer to Fairchild and asked, “Are you saying you suspect Land poisoned me and the babies?”

“Of course! She’s the only outsider in the house. Who else could it be?” Fairchild shot Janina a look, his face a mask of exasperation.
