Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 553

Fairchild went to Janina’s and Grace’s rooms to retrieve the other two snow globes, wrapping them in a special material to prevent them from releasing any toxic fumes.

He told everyone else to stay back and keep their distance.

Fairchild shot a glare at Janina, who was standing in the doorway. “You bought these?”

Janina swallowed hard. The beautiful snow globe now looked like a deadly harbinger of death.

“I bought them on a business trip to Seacrest a while ago. The shop owner said they were ‘family globes,’ meant to bring good fortune. The sentiment was nice, so I bought them.”

Her voice choked with emotion, her fists clenched tightly. “I never would have imagined there was something wrong with them.”

As Fairchild sealed the wrapped snow globes in a bag, he paused, his gaze softening with a complex mix of emotions as he turned to look at her.

“This is wrong. No one would go to such expense to put poison on a snow globe. This kind of poison…”

Fairchild trailed off, then waved his hand dismissively.

“You wouldn’t understand even if I explained it. Anyway, this poison is complex, with many elements, and expensive to make. The Shaw family is in business to make money. They’d have no reason to put this on their products. What would be their motive?”

The thought was chilling.

So many people had bought them.

If they had them in their homes, anyone exposed would be poisoned.

Fairchild didn't elaborate on the poison, because he knew no hospital could detect it.

Strangely, the poison felt both familiar and foreign to him.

Familiar, because he knew the antidote.

Foreign, because he couldn't remember where he had encountered it before.

But he was certain he had seen and cured this exact poison in the past.

He just couldn't remember when or where.

Fairchild sealed up all the snow globes and placed them in a special case, then shot a glare at Ethan.

“Call the police for what? You want to get her thrown in jail?”

Everyone looked at Fairchild, confused.

His gaze swept over them sharply.

“Can you be sure all the snow globes in Seacrest are the problem? What if they aren't? Wouldn't that make Janina the prime suspect? Since we know the source is here, let’s investigate first.”

Janina suddenly remembered something.

The snow globes had been inside the suitcase that was switched for a period. It was possible someone had tampered with them then.

Now, she wouldn't overlook any clue.

But if it was premeditated, how could they have known she would buy snow globes?
