“Oh, and have someone tail Yvonne and Elena for me. I have a feeling they're involved in this.”
Kenneth couldn't resist teasing her. “No way, Janina. Yvonne must be truly in love with you. She still hasn't given up.”
“Get lost…” Janina muttered.
For Liam and Joy's safety, Fairchild, Ethan, and Grace took the children back to the countryside after lunch at The Tasting Room.
Janina remained at Crystal Springs.
Partly because the matter wasn't resolved, and partly because she wanted to act as bait to lure out the person behind the scenes.
Although Land was no longer a suspect, she was still an outsider, so the family didn't tell her they were going to the countryside, only that they were feeling unwell and had gone to the hospital.
Land didn't ask any further questions and went about her duties.
Four hours later, a message arrived from Aiden.
[I bought three snow globes as you asked. The hospital test results are back. They're clean.]
He had also attached photos of the lab reports.
Aiden had been meticulous, recording a video of the entire process, from buying the snow globes at the mall to taking them to the hospital for testing.
In other words, the snow globes from the store were completely non-toxic. Only the three Janina had bought were poisoned.
Janina wasn't surprised by the result.
Now, all she could do was wait for news from Kenneth and see if he could get the airport surveillance footage.
That evening,
Janina and Wendy were sitting on the bed, chatting.
Just then, Janina’s phone beeped with a notification. She immediately picked it up.
Then Janina started to walk away.
It was at that exact moment that the man, without drawing any attention, swapped her suitcase with his own. Then, picking up what was now her suitcase, he called out to her to point out the “mistake.”
Watching the entire video sent a chill down Janina’s spine.
“Damn it. It looks like he was targeting me from the start. How else would he know the model of my suitcase and that I'd bought snow globes?”
Wendy was also taken aback. The person behind this was meticulous, even knowing about the snow globes Janina had bought in Seacrest.
“So, you were being watched in Seacrest. He knew what you bought, so he found a way to swap your suitcase at the airport with one containing poisoned snow globes.”
“I think so. Look here. Isn't he deliberately bumping into me?” Janina replayed the video, pausing it at the moment of impact.
Wendy nodded firmly. “Definitely. It's too obvious. The path is so wide, but he walks right into you. And look here.”
Wendy rewound the video a few seconds. “His eyes are on you the whole time. Look at his gaze.”
