Janina didn't move, a cold smirk spreading across her face.
"What's the rush? The best part of the show hasn't even started."
She raised a hand and snapped her fingers. Behind her, a large screen suddenly flickered to life.
The departing crowd froze in their tracks, all eyes turning to the screen. The human appetite for drama was insatiable. Some people even started calling friends, telling them to watch the livestream online. Who didn't love a good scandal involving the Aurelius family?
The reporters immediately raised their cameras, aiming them at the screen.
Elena and Julius looked up, curious and wary, wondering what game Janina was playing now.
Yvonne was so weak that someone brought a chair for her. Elena helped her sit, treating her with an almost husband-like tenderness. If you didn't know better, you'd think Elena was Yvonne's devoted spouse, while Julius looked more like a bystander who'd wandered in by mistake. From the moment Yvonne arrived, he hadn't made a single move to help her or asked a single question. It seemed some of Janina's words had found their mark in his heart.
Before the screen fully illuminated, Janina's voice echoed through a microphone.
"Ladies and gentlemen, today I ask you all to be my witnesses. I truly just want to live my life in peace, without irrelevant people constantly disrupting it. So, there are some things I must make public. Since my divorce, many terrible things have happened that have threatened my safety and that of my family. I won't waste your time with a long speech. Please, just watch patiently."
With that, Janina fell silent, and the screen lit up.
At first glance, it didn't seem like much. What teenager, boy or girl, didn't have a crush? A high school diary like this was perfectly normal.
Among everyone present, only Julius seemed to grasp the true significance. To the others, it was just a sweet, nostalgic love diary.
Janina's gaze swept over Julius's suddenly taut jawline and Yvonne's face, which was a mask of panic, shock, and terror. She smiled faintly.
A moment later, a voice, thick with suppressed rage, rumbled from Julius's throat.
"The year you graduated high school, you told me you were going abroad to study, to become an accomplished woman worthy of me. But you weren't going to study at all. You were going to chase after Hugh?"
