Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 607

Janina took a moment to calm her frantic nerves, realizing her back was drenched in a cold sweat.

“I… I had a nightmare,” she said in a hoarse voice.

Queenie was wearing only a thin nightgown. It seemed she had rushed over in such a hurry that she hadn’t even had time to grab a robe.

Queenie’s room was right next to Janina’s, so she had arrived quickly.

Noticing how raspy Janina’s voice was, Queenie quickly poured her a glass of warm water.

Covered in sweat, Janina was indeed thirsty. She drank the entire glass in one go, the water soothing her throat and making her feel a little better.

Once she’d recovered a bit, she told Queenie to go back to bed.

Queenie was still worried. “Janina, I’m not tired. Why don’t I stay here until you fall asleep?”

Janina managed a weak smile. “You think I’m a child? Don’t worry, I’ll call you if I need anything.”

Queenie had no choice but to return to her room.

She left her door open, put on a jacket, and lay down on her bed, ready to get up at a moment's notice.

This was her fifth job since leaving her secluded life in the mountains, and she was determined to keep it.

She was twenty-two this year. She had grown up in the mountains with her master, who had taught her martial arts.

After her master passed away, she came down to the city.

Life in the city wasn't like the mountains, where you could grow your own vegetables. Here, even a sip of water cost money.

With no other skills, she had to rely on her fighting abilities, so she became a bodyguard.

She’d gotten lucky with her first job, hired by a wealthy old woman who paid her ten thousand a month to protect her from her ungrateful children who were after her inheritance.

She worked for the old woman for over a year. The very month she was about to get a raise for her excellent performance, the old woman died of a sudden heart attack.

And just like that, her first job was gone.

Her next few jobs all ended within six months to a year, with her employers dying unexpectedly.

Kenneth had told her that Yvonne had been in the hospital the whole time, with Elena almost constantly at her side.

Janina had a feeling Yvonne was connected to Damaris's death.

She wanted to see for herself if Yvonne was really in the hospital every day, just as Kenneth had said.

Queenie had somehow acquired a nurse's uniform and a wheelchair.

Janina, pretending to be a patient, sat in the wheelchair. She was bundled up in a hat and mask, with only her eyes showing.

Queenie pushed Janina to Yvonne’s room and stopped outside the door.

Through the crack in the door, they could see inside.

Yvonne was lying on the bed, her face wrapped in bandages, her body seemingly immobile.

Janina was horrified. Julius had been brutal, beating Yvonne this badly.
