Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 66

As her thoughts spiraled, Janina felt her resolve waver.

If things had been different, the arrival of these children would have been a moment of pure joy. But life was full of cruel twists.

"Miss Holt, have you made your decision?" The doctor's voice broke through her reverie.

"I…" The rest of the sentence caught in her throat.

Janina looked up at Maggie, her eyes pleading.

"No matter how many there are, I shouldn't let myself get sentimental, right? I can't let my own desire to be a mother bring them into this world just to suffer with me."

Maggie thought to herself that if it were her, she might just keep the babies.

Get rid of the father, keep the children.

Having kids would be fun, their constant chatter filling the house with life and joy.

Crucially, Maggie was financially stable enough to raise two children on her own.

But Janina…

With her family situation and a husband like Julius, raising two children would be incredibly difficult. Not impossible, but she feared Janina's family would find out and use the children to extort the Aurelius family.

Perhaps that was why Janina was so insistent on not keeping them.

Maggie pulled Janina's head into her embrace, patting her back soothingly.

"Nina, whatever you decide, I support you. And I mean it when I say, if you have them, the four of us will raise them together. If you don't, I support that too. There's no right or wrong answer here. Just know that me, Melody, and Wendy will always have your back, no matter what."

"Thank you." Janina looked up at Maggie, her nose stinging as her vision blurred.

She quickly looked down, afraid Maggie would see her tears.

Her eyes were wet, but she blinked them back. Those three women were more of a family to her than her own parents.

These children…

Janina's fingertips traced the two shadows on the report.

She was afraid that if she waited any longer, she would grow more attached to the lives inside her, and the pain would only deepen.

Besides, once the procedure was over, she needed to get back to work as soon as possible.

"Hmm, hold on. Let me look at this report one more time."

The doctor picked up the report again, her expression growing serious as she studied it.

"Your condition is rather delicate. If you terminate this pregnancy, you won't be able to get pregnant again for at least three years."

The doctor pointed to a specific section of the report.

"If you insist on the procedure, it's not impossible, but this value here is a bit low. It would make the surgery risky."

"What kind of risk?" Maggie asked before Janina could.

The doctor broke down the two issues separately.

The gist was that if she terminated the pregnancy now, she would need a long recovery period before she could even consider trying for another child. As for the surgery, it couldn't be done today because a certain hormone level was too low. They had to raise it first.
