Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 83

Brooke couldn't understand why Janina was so lucky. How could a man as exceptional as him belong to Janina?

"No," she thought. "This should have been mine."

If Janina hadn't stolen her place as the Gable heiress, she would have been the one to marry Julius.

With that thought, Brooke's hatred for the Holt family intensified, eventually redirecting itself entirely onto Janina.

Janina had not only stolen her rightful place as an heiress but had also stolen such an outstanding husband.

Brooke gritted her teeth in fury.

After leaving the Gable residence, Julius followed the address Cedric had given him and found the Holt family's home.

He wanted to see Janina living in misery with his own eyes, to wait for her to regret her decision and come crawling back to him for help.

But he waited until nightfall, and no one from the Holt family returned. The front door remained locked.

Meanwhile.

Janina had been on her feet for days.

She had visited nearly every major hospital in Clayborne City, and every doctor had said the same thing: Ethan's eyes and Grace's legs could not be fully restored. They could only offer palliative care, with a mere one percent chance of recovery.

The doctors had essentially given them a death sentence.

Her best friends would stop by Janina's apartment after work to visit Ethan and Grace.

Janina decided to buy a bigger house. That weekend, she sent Ava a new design for a diamond necklace, intended for the following year's new collection.

In just one week, millions of dollars were deposited into Janina's bank account.

The designs were sketches she had drawn in her spare time; they only required a few touch-ups and didn't take much time.

On Saturday.

She bought a car to make future visits to her family at the Holt house easier. She figured she would need one eventually, so once the idea struck, she went out and bought one that very day.

Janina was driving her brand-new car, which didn't even have its license plates yet, preparing to head home. Her brother had cooked a feast and was waiting for her.

The car was moving smoothly.

Suddenly, a staggering figure darted out in front of her, nearly colliding with her car.

Janina instinctively slammed on the brakes.

She could see he was homeless.

Fearing he would be difficult to deal with and wanting to leave as soon as possible, she decided not to expose his lie.

She turned to the stall owner. "How much for what he took?"

"He ate a couple pounds of strawberries, they're twenty bucks a pound. I'll give you a discount, just call it thirty dollars."

Janina pulled out her phone. "Let me see your payment code."

The vendor held out the QR code hanging around his neck.

After Janina paid the thirty dollars, the vendor couldn't help but ask.

"Is he really your grandfather? Is he… you know, all there?" he asked, tapping his head.

"You're the one who's not all there!" the old man shot back, rolling his eyes.

The vendor scowled at the old man but didn't engage, simply walking away.

Once the vendor was gone, Janina looked at the old man, who was now squatting on the ground, sucking on a lollipop. She sighed and pulled a hundred-dollar bill from her wallet, pressing it into his hand.
