"Dr. Darren…" Janina clutched the report, unsure of how much he had seen.
Darren, dressed in a white coat, stood under the cool light of the hallway, which subtly highlighted his handsome features.
He lowered his gaze to the report crumpled in Janina's hand, his deep, amber eyes darkening slightly.
"You…"
"Nina, come on!" Before Darren could finish, Maggie appeared, interrupting him.
Maggie walked over.
She noticed the strange look on Janina's face and glanced at Darren's expression, quickly piecing together what had happened.
Maggie smoothly linked her arm through Janina's.
"Nina, give me the test results. I have to tell my husband the good news! We've been waiting for this baby for so long. I'm taking all the girls out tonight to celebrate!"
Having said her piece, Maggie turned as if just noticing Darren, her face a mask of surprise. "Oh, you look so familiar, handsome!"
Janina quickly played along, introducing them. Looking at Maggie, she said, "This is Dr. Darren."
Then she turned to Darren. "This is my friend, Maggie."
Maggie and Darren exchanged a brief nod of acknowledgment.
Darren's gaze swept coolly over Maggie, then to the report she had taken from Janina, and finally rested back on Janina.
He said, his tone unreadable, "Oh, so it's Miss Maggie's. For a moment, I thought it was yours."
Janina maintained a calm expression. In truth, she didn't have to hide anything. She was divorced from Julius now; whether she was pregnant or not had nothing to do with the Aurelius family.
But it was always better to avoid anyone connected to Julius.
This hospital was huge, yet she had run into him twice. She would have to find a new one.
The Holt family was poor; they couldn't give her the life she wanted.
Was she still too proud to give in, to come back and beg him?
Just as Julius started to walk towards her, a delicate hand looped through his arm. "Julius, did you get the medicine?"
Yvonne's voice broke the silence. Julius instinctively pulled his arm free.
Julius's rejection stung Yvonne, filling her with a mix of anger and sorrow. She had seen Janina too.
"That bitch," she thought. "If she's already left, why does she have to show up in front of Julius again?"
Just then, Maggie returned from the pharmacy window and spotted Julius and Yvonne.
Although they weren't holding hands, Yvonne was gazing at Julius with a look of deep affection and hurt, her body practically pressed against his. They looked very intimate.
Maggie followed Julius's line of sight and subtly glanced at Janina, who was sitting about fifteen feet away, engrossed in her phone. Maggie decided it was time to give the cheating pair a piece of her mind.
