Abandoned Luna Now Untouchable (Cecilia) novel Chapter 150

**TITLE: After His Bite, I Learned to Heal**
**Chapter 150: Family Complications**

**Cecilia**

Alpha Yardley flashed that signature authoritative grin—the kind that suggested he held all the secrets of the universe, and it made my stomach plummet like a malfunctioning elevator.

“I know precisely which rumors hold truth and which are mere fabrications,” he declared, as though he were casually reading a weather forecast instead of detonating the fragile structure of my social life.

Oh, you truly understand nothing, Alpha.

You’re merely attempting to mold your son into a heterosexual mold as if it were a simple weekend DIY project.

If the Pack Alpha chose to air this scandal, I was utterly doomed.

Honestly, having President Wiley breathing down my neck was already a full-time anxiety disorder.

Now, I had to fret over Silver Peak’s Alpha diving headfirst into the gossip whirlpool as well?

Was there some sort of supernatural HR department I could file a complaint with? No? Fantastic.

Alpha Sebastian disentangled Cassian’s arm from his shoulder and gracefully settled beside me, his movements fluid and almost feline.

His eyes, which had been cold and distant since his arrival, finally softened, revealing a warmth I hadn’t expected.

“Stop teasing her,” he said, his voice dripping with warmth, like honey melting in the sun. “She’s shy. These pack rumors are already weighing heavily on her. If they keep spreading, she might just resign.”

Every syllable he uttered was a denial of the swirling rumors.

And yet, every single word… was making the situation infinitely more precarious.

The intensity of his gaze sent heat rushing to my cheeks, painting them a deep crimson.

He called this an explanation?

With that look and that tone, even passing mountain lions would think he was marking his territory!

Cassian threw himself dramatically into the seat next to Alpha Sebastian, his eyes wide with theatrical betrayal.

“Sebastian, how could you do this to me?” he gasped, clutching his chest as if he’d been mortally wounded. “You promised we’d rebel against pack traditions together. You said we’d grow old, fabulously gay, and drive your parents mad at every pack dinner!”

He fanned himself dramatically, as if he were a 19th-century widow mid-faint.

“But now—now Secretary Moore shows up, and suddenly you’re… straight-curious? No! I object! This is emotional… a******y!”

He turned to me, eyes wide and imploring. “It’s me or her. Choose wisely.”

I blinked. Hard.

Wait. Was I… the other woman in a gay love triangle I never signed up for?

Apparently, I wasn’t the only one caught in confusion.

Alpha Yardley looked like he was about to explode, his eyes bulging and his forehead gleaming with rage.

“Don’t panic,” Zane Locke said smoothly, his voice a calming balm amidst the chaos. “Cassian knows better than to actually claim Sebastian. He’s just… expressive.”

Alpha Yardley was not reassured. He looked as if he wished to ship both of them off to a remote cave with no Wi-Fi.

Meanwhile, Cassian was on a roll. “Come on, Uncle Yardley, we’re practically family already! Just think about it—Alpha Sebastian and I, one big, powerful couple bloodline. I’d take excellent care of him.”

Alpha Yardley turned a shade of purple that was quite impressive.

In a fit of rage, he grabbed a dish and hurled it at Cassian.

Cassian dodged with the finesse of a seasoned athlete; the plate shattered against the wall in a spectacular explosion.

Alpha Yardley leapt to his feet, pure Alpha fury radiating from him like heat waves. Zane Locke intervened, hands raised in a placating gesture.

“Easy, Yardley. He’s been like this since birth. It’s not personal.”

“Keep him away from my son!” Alpha Yardley roared, his voice echoing through the room.

Then, as if the universe had a personal vendetta against me, he turned to me.

“Secretary Moore, you cannot lose to a man. Fix things with Alpha Sebastian. Win him back.”

I stared at him, horrified. “Wait—we’re not even—”

“Nonsense. I can tell. Go get him. If you run into trouble, I’ll handle it.”

Alpha Sebastian leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “With great power comes great responsibility,” he murmured, a hint of mischief in his tone. “I believe in you.”

Was I hallucinating? Was this actually real life?

A flash of calculation crossed Maggie’s eyes.

They came to Denver too? Weren’t they supposed to be in Australia?

She stroked her daughter’s silky hair while her eyes remained fixed on the approaching group.

When she caught sight of Cecilia walking at the back, her expression shifted dramatically.

For a fleeting moment, she looked as though she had seen a ghost—or perhaps more accurately, like she had encountered a ghost she had personally sent to the grave.

Xenia cupped her chin in her hands, blissfully unaware of her mother’s turmoil. “Mom, that guy looks so handsome. I like him.”

Maggie quickly composed herself, her fingers tightening almost imperceptibly in her daughter’s hair. “Do you mean the one walking next to your brother Cassian?”

“Mm-hmm, he’s so cool, so handsome.”

Xenia nodded enthusiastically, her eyes wide with innocent admiration.

As beautiful as she was, Xenia had always been—well, let’s call it delightfully delayed. A few steps behind the rest of the world, mentally.

Maggie, of course, had never corrected this. Why would she?

A daughter who asked no questions and adored her mother like a living saint? That was a dream. A slightly creepy, codependent dream, but still a dream.

Maggie doted on Xenia with the intensity of a woman who collected vintage dolls and never let anyone touch them.

She gave her everything she desired—except agency. Independence was for people who didn’t know how to curate affection like a gallery exhibit.

She typically provided her with whatever she wanted, cultivating dependence rather than independence. “That guy is just as disobedient as your brother Cassian. He’s no fun at all. How about Mommy finds you an obedient guy to play with?”

Xenia shook her head with surprising firmness. “No way! I want that guy.”

As mother and daughter conversed, the door to the private dining room creaked open softly.

A man entered from outside, his presence instantly filling the space with an air of dominance.

Dressed in an immaculate suit that couldn’t quite conceal the predator lurking beneath, he was handsome, with cold, brooding features that hinted at a man accustomed to getting his way.

Maggie’s expression flipped like a switch. Her voice dipped into a velvet tone, all honey and calculated charm.

“Alpha Xavier,” she purred, rising with the grace of a cat preparing to pounce. “Don’t look so grumpy. Honestly, you should be calling me ‘Aunt Maggie’—just like Cici does.”
