31 Chapter 31 Just teasing
Naomi’s pov:
I woke to sunlight filtering through the heavy curtains of Elias’s bedroom, my body a map of aches that made me wince with every shift. My thighs burned, and my core throbbed like I’d been split open and stitched back wrong, and the faint bruises on my hips from his grip pulsed in time with my heartbeat.
Regret hit me like a freight train–regret for letting the mate bond pull me under last night, for the way I’d arched into him despite the cruelty in his words, for the desperate sounds I’d made as he claimed me over and over.
What was wrong with me? He was a cage disguised as a lover, and yet my omega instincts had slicked for him, begging for more.
traitorous
Elias stirred beside me, his massive arm draped possessively over my waist, his scent enveloping me like smoke. I held my breath, carefully sliding out from under him, biting my lip against the soreness as I eased off the bed.
My bare feet hit the cool hardwood, and I grabbed his discarded shirt from the floor, pulling it on to cover myself. It swallowed me whole, hanging to mid–thigh, but it was better than nothing. I slipped out the door, padding down the hall to my own room- the one he’d assigned me in his sprawling mansion, more like a guest suite than a prison cell, but a cell all the same.
Locking the door behind me, I sank onto the edge of the bed, staring at my reflection in the full–length mirror. My hair was a tangled mess, lips swollen from his kisses, neck marked with faint red imprints from his hand. I despised it–despised how my body betrayed me every time, heating at his touch, the bond making me crave the very
control I hated.
A shower washed away the evidence of last night but sitting for breakfast was torture. I dressed in a simple sundress and made my way to the dining room. Elias was already there, looking annoyingly refreshed in a fitted black shirt and jeans. The table was set with fresh coffee, fruit, and toast–his version of normalcy,
“Morning, little wolf,” he said, his voice a low rumble as he pulled out my chair.
I lowered myself gingerly, suppressing a hiss as my sore core protested against the hard seat. I shifted immediately, crossing and uncrossing my legs, trying to find a

position that didn’t feel like sitting on coals.
He sat across from me, golden eyes watching with amusement. “Sleep well?”
“Well enough,” I muttered, forcing a small smile. Play obedient, Naomi. Don’t raise suspicion. I speared a piece of fruit, chewing slowly to avoid conversation.
True to his word from last night–whispered promises between thrusts–he cleared his throat. “About your freedom. You’ll be allowed out once a week. Shopping, errands, whatever you need. But with beta escorts–two of my trusted ones—and a strict curfew. Home by six, no exceptions. It’s for your safety.”
I bit back the surge of frustration, the urge to snap that it was just another leash. Instead, I nodded meekly, eyes downcast like a good omega. “Thank you, Elias. That… means a lot.”
He smirked, leaning back. “Shifting a lot there. Lower region’s sore this morning?”
Heat flooded my cheeks in embarrassment. I glared at him. “That’s none of your
business.”
He chuckled, raising his hands in mock surrender, palms out. “Easy there. Just teasing. Consider it a reminder of how well we fit.”
I looked away, stabbing at my eggs, but inside, my vow hardened. One day out a week? It was enough. I’d plan, I’d run, and I’d leave this alpha and his suffocating bond in the dust.
Elias’s pov:
I leaned back in my leather chair of my office. My fingers drummed on the polished oak desk as I scanned the security report on my screen, the red flags glaring like bloodstains.
Subtle hacks: unauthorized access attempts on our encrypted databases, pings from offshore IPs that vanished like smoke. Leaked info–nothing catastrophic yet, just whispers of proprietary tech specs hitting dark web forums, enough to rattle investors if it escalated. I rubbed my temples, the alpha in me growling low.
Darius. It had to be that slimy bastard. Ever since he’d slithered into the underworld alliances, eyeing my territory, he’d been probing for weaknesses.

But proof? Elusive as a ghost. No direct links, just shadows that screamed his
involvement.
“Adrian,” I barked into the intercom. “Get in here.”
The door swung open seconds later, my assistant striding in with his usual crisp efficiency.
He adjusted his wire–rimmed glasses, tablet in hand. “Sir?”
“We’ve got breaches. Minor, but they’re stacking up. Tighten security–triple the firewalls, rotate all access codes, and hire that cybersecurity firm we vetted last month. I want every entry point locked down by end of day. If Darius thinks he can nibble at my empire without consequences, he’s dumber than he looks.”
Adrian’s brow furrowed as he skimmed the doc. “You think he’s behind this?”

“I know he is,” I growled, my voice dipping into that primal register. “No proof yet, but his fingerprints are all over it. These hacks are too precise to be random. Foil this, and we cut off his broader play–whatever the hell that is.”
He nodded, tapping notes into his tablet. “On it. We’ll have the team scrambling. Anything else?”
I sighed, leaning forward. “Yeah. Keep it quiet. No leaks to the board until we’ve plugged the holes.”
“Understood.” He hesitated, then cleared his throat. “Speaking of hits… since the company took this, uh, ‘hit, the elders have made a decision.”
My head snapped up. The Kingsley elders–my family’s ancient council of alphas, meddling from their secluded estates like gods on Olympus. I hated when they dipped their paws into my business. Kingsley Enterprises was mine, built from the ashes of my parents‘ murder, not some pack playground.
“What now?” I asked, already frowning.
Adrian shifted uncomfortably. “They’re sending your cousin Lucy to help. She will arrive this afternoon.”
“Help?” I scoffed, rising to pace by the windows. The city below looked like a chessboard, and I wasn’t about to let family politics rearrange my pieces, “I don’t need a babysitter. Lucy’s sharp, but this is corporate warfare, not pack hunts. Tell them thanks, but no.”
