A wave of nausea hit her. She quickly pushed Gideon's hand away, fighting the sudden urge to throw up. "Take it away, take it away."
Using the same tactic on her that he used to please someone else... it was disgusting.
Gideon frowned, putting the small cake down and gently patting Aria's back. "Is the morning sickness this bad? Don't most women like sweets? Why do you feel sick just looking at them?"
Aria's lips were a little pale. She took a few deep breaths and shook her head. "I'm not hungry right now. Let's go."
***
At the auction house.
Gideon was helping Aria up the stairs.
"Gideon! You're here too!" Lilith, wearing a floral dress, walked over quickly. When she saw Aria, her voice softened. "Aria is here too..."
"Lilith? What are you doing here?"
Gideon frowned. Lilith was supposed to be in a hospital room at this hour. Shouldn't she be lying in a hospital bed?
Why was she out?
Especially in such a crowded place?
Lilith naturally looped her arm through Gideon's. "I was feeling really good today, and Mom was worried I'd be bored, so she had Charles bring me to the auction."
Aria glanced at Lilith's hand and silently distanced herself from Gideon.
"Mr. Evernight, did you come with your girlfriend?"
The auction organizer saw their intimate posture and quickly spoke up. "What a well-matched couple!"
It was just that his girlfriend was a bit too thin, probably a young woman who was overly concerned with being beautiful.
Aria's expression was calm, as if she were immune to such comments.
With the organizer speaking up, the managers around him chimed in.
"Yes, yes, it looks like wedding bells are in the air for Mr. Evernight."
"Lilith, what are you doing over here?"
Since Dawn was already innovating with integrative medicine, he figured there must be some merit to traditional practices.
He was here to try his luck.
"Aria, don't you have anything to say?"
Gideon wasn't paying attention to the others.
"Come here."
He hadn't wanted to make his relationship with Aria public before, but things were different now.
More importantly, he felt that his relationship with Aria had changed. She was drifting further and further away.
Lilith's expression became a little uncomfortable, but she didn't let go of Gideon's arm. "That's right, Aria. Why are you standing so far away? We're all family..."
"Family?" The organizer's face was wreathed in smiles. "Good news is on the way for you two. This is truly a wonderful occasion!"
"Good news?" Aria walked over and looked at Gideon. "What good news? I don't see any. Is it the impending good news between a married man and his wife's sister?"
