After hearing Aria's story, Raphael nodded in understanding.
"I'll report this to the board. I'll have an answer for you in three days." Raphael paused for a moment, then added, "If they don't approve it, I'll lend you the money myself."
"But…"
"Don't worry about it." Raphael smiled, a lively spark igniting in his eyes. "Actually, I haven't told you yet, but when the genetic disease trial begins, I will be the first test subject."
"My illness is only suppressed in the short term, not cured. I want to live longer."
Raphael stood up, his expression growing serious and earnest.
"So, it is I who should thank you. Thank you for bringing Dawn into this research, for giving me hope that I might one day see myself cured."
Aria quickly stood up as well.
She never imagined Raphael would say something like that.
It was as if he was placing all his hopes on her shoulders.
But she had only proposed a direction. Once the research began, there would inevitably be significant deviations from what was expected.
Aria wasn't even sure if they could succeed.
But in that moment, she couldn't bear to shatter Raphael's hope.
"Alright. We'll work hard together."

Eveline watched the two of them talking in the greenhouse. Unsure of what they were discussing, she took a couple of photos with her phone and sent them to Gideon.
[Eveline: What's going on? Why is Aria so familiar with Raphael?]
After waiting a few minutes without a reply from Gideon, Eveline gave up.
The two of them were just talking in the greenhouse, not doing anything inappropriate.
Eveline scoffed.
Eight years ago, Dawn had saved his life.
Eight years later, Eveline feared another miracle.
Seeing Aldous Evernight remain silent, Eveline sighed and wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye.
"If only Aaron had the chance to meet Dawn, he wouldn't have…"
"That's enough. Stop crying. The Evernight family has shed enough tears."
Aldous Evernight hated it most when people cried in front of him about his children.
No parent should ever have to bury their child.
He could only chalk it up to cruel fate.
Fortunately, Raphael had met Dawn.
He withdrew his gaze from the greenhouse and instructed Eveline, "Tomorrow, you must make sure everyone knows that Aria is the true, legitimate daughter-in-law of the Evernight family."
