Aria let out a subconscious sigh of relief.
She had carried the blame for that drugging for three years. Now, her name was finally cleared.
A weight lifted from her heart.
“Good,” Aria nodded. “I can’t believe Harold would dare to pull such a despicable stunt at the matriarch’s birthday banquet.”
If she had drunk that glass…
Aria shivered involuntarily.
“Where’s Aria?” Gideon yelled, holding Lilith. “I remember Dr. Reaves said yesterday that an antidote had been developed! Find Aria!”
Since Aria was in charge of the research now, if Dr. Reaves said an antidote was ready, it was highly likely Aria was the one who had developed it.
Lilith’s current state had to be a complication from the large doses of medication she’d been taking.
If they could get the antidote, they could surely save her.
“I’ll go find her!” Flora squeezed Lilith’s hand, tears streaming down her face. “Lilith, hang in there! I’m going to find Aria! Even if I have to get on my knees and beg her, I’ll get that antidote!”
“Aren't Aria and Lilith sisters? How can Aria refuse to hand over the antidote when Lilith is poisoned?”
“Yeah, how strange. As a doctor, shouldn't it be her duty to save lives? Could Aria really stand by and watch Lilith die?”
“Quiet down, this is the Brent family’s banquet!”
The guests murmured among themselves.
Their gazes shifted in unison to the pale-faced Helena.
The chatter subsided a little.
Aria’s breathing grew heavy.
She wasn’t unwilling to save Lilith. It was them—they had already condemned her without even seeing her.
This wasn’t a plea for help.
