As Charles came out of the room, he overheard the discussions outside.
His clothes were slightly disheveled. After straightening them, he glanced at Flora, who was sound asleep on the bed, and gently closed the door.
The Brent family home was in chaos.
Harold had returned after getting a few rabies shots, his wound now cleaned and treated.
He was complaining nonstop to Helena.
Lilith's condition had just stabilized, but because the incident involved Aria, Gideon was also sitting in the living room.
He wasn't worried about Raphael and Aria.
Raphael had been raised by Aldous Evernight since he was a child. Though he appeared calm and detached, he would never allow the Evernight family's reputation to be tarnished in the slightest.
Therefore, Raphael's protectiveness of Aria was simply to prevent her from bringing shame upon the Evernight name.
"There should be security cameras in the back garden. If we check the footage, we'll know if Aria let the dog attack you."
Gideon tapped the table calmly.
Regardless of anything else, Aria was his wife, and she had just saved Lilith. On principle and out of fairness, he couldn't let her be falsely accused here.
Charles wasn't fully aware of what had happened, so he remained silent.
"Madam, Aria and Mr. Evernight have arrived," a servant announced quietly.
"Harold, how do you want to handle this?" Roxanne asked. "Since you claim Aria incited the dog to bite you, what do you propose?"
"We're all family. Of course I won't make things difficult for Aria! As long as she treats me to a private dinner, that'll be enough..."
If he could just get Aria alone, he'd have his revenge.
Besides, he wasn't stupid. Gideon was right there. No matter how much Gideon disliked Aria, he wouldn't stand by and watch her grovel and beg for his forgiveness.
So, a private meeting was the best option.
Roxanne's lips curled into a slight smile. "That's not an unreasonable request."
"Where's Rufus? He bit someone. Did you hide him?"
Aria's expression was icy. "He's dead. Three broken ribs and internal injuries. He was put to sleep."
One of the Brent family members immediately spoke up. "It's a birthday party today! Aria, are you saying these things just to ruin the mood?"
Aria's eyes shifted. "That's right. I do want to make everyone miserable. Especially Harold."
Roxanne retorted, "So, you admit you told the dog to bite Harold?"
"Before I answer that, I'd like everyone to look at this data comparison first."
Aria took a stack of printed documents from her bag and personally handed two of the sheets to Gideon.
"Gideon, you especially should take a close look at this."
Three years ago, although no evidence was found, the Evernight family and Aria had kept complete data records. Filing a lawsuit against Harold now would guarantee a win.
Gideon stared at the two nearly identical data reports. "What does this mean? Did you really have the dog bite him?"
