After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 177

Caleb sighed.

When Aria had started high school, Charles was already a senior. The teachers all said he had received an early acceptance to a top university.

If he had just gone, his future would have been bright.

But instead…

His gaze fell on Charles’s slightly trembling right hand.

Before the accident, Charles’s life had been too perfect.

“Try not to dwell on it. Aria has probably moved on. What’s the point of digging all this up now? I can tell Flora really likes you, so don’t let my words ruin your relationship. This is all just stuff I heard from other people anyway; it might not even be true.”

Charles was silent for a moment, then collected himself and nodded.

“Thanks.”

Caleb seemed a little embarrassed. “It’s nothing. We’re friends. I’ll always tell you what I know.”

With that topic out of the way, they didn’t have much else to talk about.

After they wrapped things up, Charles transferred a sizable sum of money to Caleb. “Don’t tell Flora about this.”

Caleb nodded in understanding. “Got it. And congratulations on the wedding, by the way.”

Flora had bullied Aria because of him. Even though he hadn't known at the time, he was still an indirect accomplice in Aria's suffering.

But…

Thinking of how Flora’s uterus had been severely damaged because of him, he couldn’t bring himself to blame her. After all, she had only done it because she loved him so much.

He was the real culprit.

After Caleb left, Charles remained in the private room for a while longer.

He thought about the drug Harold had given Aria, then about Flora's reaction after taking a drug, and his expression darkened. After a moment of hesitation, he pulled out his phone again.

“Help me investigate the drug Harold bought… and also, get me Flora’s medical records from her years abroad.”
