Although they lived in an era of peace, the hidden undercurrents of global tension were impossible to ignore.
There was no immediate military crisis for the nation, but many soldiers deployed in peacekeeping forces overseas suffered severe nerve damage from the crossfire.
The medications Aria had developed were already being mass-produced for military use, and the results were nothing short of phenomenal!
Naturally, Nathaniel grew fonder of Aria by the second.
If he hadn't known she was already married, he would have dragged his useless son over right now to court her.
Such a brilliant, wonderful girl...
Wait. He had heard a rumor that Aria submitted divorce papers recently, and the mandatory cooling-off period was almost over.
At that thought, Nathaniel's smile widened until his eyes disappeared completely.
"We're just here for a casual get-together today, so please don't be so formal!
"Also, because the GJ101 trial is of monumental importance—and its applications go far beyond just medical research—I brought someone along to join the team."
Nathaniel cleared his throat and hollered toward the door.
"You brat! Get in here!"
Aria turned her head and watched the door slowly open. A young man dressed in a loose hoodie walked in.
His gaze landed on Aria, and he offered a shy, nervous smile.
"What are you grinning at?" Nathaniel barked. "This is my son, Samuel Kersey. He works in the AI sector and will be joining the trial team."
Samuel looked incredibly bashful. He greeted everyone around the table one by one before finally stopping in front of Aria. He extended a hand.
"Hello. I've heard so much about you. I look forward to working together!"
Nathaniel watched with deep satisfaction.
His son clearly had a good first impression of Aria. If he could manage to win her over, it would be the absolute best news possible.
Aria was momentarily stunned but reached out and shook his hand gently. "Hello, I'm Aria. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Raphael. Nice to meet you."
The moment their hands touched, Raphael reached out and offered his hand to Samuel as well.
"Your career is just taking off. There's no need to rush into any choices. You have plenty of opportunities ahead of you."
Aria quickly sat up straighter. "Don't worry, Mr. Reaves! I promise I won't let my personal life drag down the trial's progress!"
The moment she said that, several pairs of eyes shifted directly to Alden.
Nathaniel scoffed. "Alden, look at you, being so old-fashioned!
"Young people these days know how to balance romance and their careers perfectly. Don't you go scaring Aria into thinking she can't date until her career is set in stone!"
Felix rolled his eyes.
Nathaniel sounded so righteous, but in reality, he was just terrified his son would lose his home-field advantage!
Why the hell did he let his own son join the army? Now the boy was deployed for years at a time, without a girlfriend in sight!
If his son were here right now, he absolutely would have found a way to set him up with Aria.
Maybe there would have been an instant spark, and they would have fallen for each other.
What a shame. An absolute shame!
