Gideon froze. "Aria, we aren't officially divorced yet. What's the problem with me coming back to my own house?"
Gideon spoke with such natural confidence that Aria had to fight the urge to sneer. How self-righteous!
"We already signed the divorce papers. This place is my private property now, and you have absolutely no right to enter."
Gideon pursed his lips. He knew Aria had a sharp tongue but a soft heart. She was as prickly as a rose bush when they were apart, but she always melted into his arms the second they were together.
"Aria, I'm not here to fight with you. I just don't want this divorce..." He turned the key in the lock as he spoke.
Raphael stood up, instinctively wanting to pull Aria behind him. When Gideon lost his temper, he was the type to tear the world apart without caring about the consequences. Aria's health was already fragile. If Gideon tried to bully her again... Raphael's body tensed.
Aria, however, looked completely unfazed. "I already changed the locks."
The key refused to turn. Gideon's expression instantly darkened. "Aria, are you trying to keep me out?" He slammed his fist against the heavy door. She had only been living here for a few days, and she had already changed the locks!
Aria's lips curled into a faint smile. "Rule number one of the corporate world: always have a backup plan."
Raphael stared at the small smile playing on her lips, his heart inexplicably skipping a beat.
