After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 279

Roxanne's breathing grew ragged, and her grip on Charles's arm tightened painfully.

But after a moment's thought, she forced herself to calm down.

The autopsy results arrived quickly. Since the procedure was solely focused on detecting heavy drug residue in Lilith's bloodstream, it didn't take long.

After a brief consultation with the medical examiner, the officer printed two copies of the report, handing one to Aria and the other to Ivy.

"Since you both have expertise in this field, you can review it together."

Finishing her messages to the lawyer, Aria took the report and scanned it.

The results clearly showed drug residue in Lilith's blood, and the amount was far from trace levels.

Aria quickly ran the calculations in her head—the concentration pointed to a recent dosage of around 3 milligrams.

"Ms. Rowan claimed the drug supply stopped after Hazel Quinn was arrested. There is no way Lilith could have sustained such high levels in her system on her own!"

"This proves someone administered the drug to her right before she died!"

Hearing this, Flora immediately stood up and pointed a manicured finger right at Aria's face.

"Aria! What do you have to say for yourself now?!"

"You are the only person capable of administering that specific drug! And you were alone with her!"

"Officer, she's the murderer! Arrest her right now!"

The officer looked at Aria, clearly torn.

While this wasn't direct, irrefutable proof, Flora's logic was entirely sound.

Still, making an arrest based solely on this circumstantial evidence was risky. The most they could do was hold her in temporary custody, and without a solid smoking gun, she would be released soon anyway.

"Actually, there's a crucial detail I didn't mention during the conference. I incorporated a specific compound into the antidote. Once it successfully neutralizes the toxin, it induces a strong physiological aversion to the original drug in the patient."

"I can guarantee that if Lilith had truly only consumed 50 milligrams, the antidote would have been entirely effective. Furthermore, after a successful detox, her natural resistance to the drug would skyrocket. Therefore, even a 5-milligram dose wouldn't have been enough to re-trigger an intense addiction."

Flora looked completely unraveled.

"You're just making things up! Since it's your drug, you can just spin whatever lies you want!"

"Besides, the main issue here is the missing 5 milligrams from the Flourish Research Institute!"

Aria raised an eyebrow. She wasn't going to let Flora deflect so easily, and she dropped a casual, devastating question.

"And how exactly are you so certain the institute is missing 5 milligrams? Unless, of course, you forged the data?"

Charles's stomach dropped. He instantly recognized Aria was baiting Flora and tried to interject to make her shut up.
