"A hundred milligrams?"
Hearing that number, Charles frowned deeply.
Lilith already had a fragile constitution and was highly sensitive to medication. If she was given such a massive dose...
Charles looked at his sister. "Roxanne, did you really not know?"
Roxanne lifted her gaze, locking eyes with Hazel for a split second before looking away.
"I only knew she was in a lot of pain back then, so I allowed her to use a small amount. But exactly how much, I have no idea."
Hazel bit her lip.
She understood exactly what Roxanne was implying—she was supposed to take the fall.
She had already lost everything. If she took the blame, Roxanne would likely compensate her.
If she told the truth, even if she got out early, she would still have nothing and might even be sold off by her family for a dowry.
Hazel took a deep breath and spoke.
"It was a hundred and fifty milligrams in total. I synthesized it myself. She begged me to keep it a secret.
So I was the one secretly administering it to her. She also kept a stash of it herself."
Aria lightly tapped her fingers against the wooden bench.
A hundred and fifty. If all of that had entered Lilith's system, she would have been dead long ago.
There was likely still a large quantity of the drug left at the Rowan lab.
The officers who went to execute the search warrant returned quickly. One of them reported:
"The search is complete. We found about twenty milligrams of the drug remaining. Based on the financial records, roughly a hundred and fifty milligrams were synthesized."
The total amount matched.
But the remaining balance didn't.
Thirty milligrams of the drug had vanished into thin air. There was no way Lilith had been holding onto that much.
But what use did she have for it?
Since she had no solid proof, Aria kept her thoughts to herself.
Just then, Roxanne spoke up.
"The coroner's report previously stated that my daughter died from a massive injection of air. Doesn't that prove she didn't die naturally?
I expect the police to find the real murderer! Let my daughter rest in peace.
Furthermore, after I left, Lilith underwent emergency resuscitation. After she stabilized, Flora was talking to the doctors about her condition. During that entire time, Aria was the only person who entered her room.
If her condition had fluctuated, the heart monitor would have sounded an alarm. Since she died without any prior medical deterioration, I firmly believe Aria is directly responsible."
Aria raised an eyebrow.
After all that talking, she was still trying to drag her through the mud. However, since Roxanne's true motives were out in the open, there was no need to hide the evidence any longer.
Aria's lips curled into a confident smile. "Officer, I have proof of my innocence."
