Looking at Gideon's face now only filled Aria with a deep, exhausting irritation. She shook off his hand, her voice utterly devoid of warmth.
"We've spent three years living exactly like this. Does this last shred of time really make a difference?"
Without another word, she opened the passenger door of Raphael's car and slid inside.
"Let's not waste time."
Once she divorced Gideon, she was entitled to half his assets. She was practically vibrating with impatience.
Gideon's eyes darkened into a stormy glare. Gripping his keys tight, he got into his own car and tailed Raphael all the way.
"Happy divorce," Raphael murmured with a low, rich chuckle, his hands casually resting on the steering wheel.
Aria's mood instantly lifted.
"It's definitely a relief to finally escape that nightmare."
"The day of your accident, I made Gideon sign a supplementary agreement. Did you look it over?
By law, you're entitled to half the equity in Evercrest Prosperity Holdings. How do you plan to handle it?"
Evercrest was an empire Aria and Gideon had built from the ground up together. Taking half the equity was entirely justified.
"I want absolutely nothing more to do with him. Once the ink is dry, I'll just sell my remaining shares back to him."
In the end, Aria couldn't bring herself to completely destroy him.
If she sold her massive chunk of equity to a third party, Gideon could very well lose control of his own company.
It was a business she had poured her own blood, sweat, and tears into building. She couldn't stomach the thought of watching it crumble just because of their personal fallout.
Gideon was a disaster when it came to his emotional life, but his business acumen was undeniable.
Following closely behind, Gideon watched the silhouettes of Raphael and Aria chatting and laughing through the windshield. His breathing grew dangerously ragged.
Why was she suddenly the one so desperate to leave?
Was she so eager to divorce him because she had fallen for Raphael?
She used to love Charles, and now she loved Raphael. But what about him?
Gideon slammed his foot down on the gas pedal, a dark, manic urge urging him to just ram straight into them.
If they all died in a twisted pile of metal, she would still be his wife. Even in death, they would be buried side by side.
The speedometer climbed rapidly.
