Aria took a deep breath and explained, “Gideon and Lilith are in love. Even after we divorce, he’ll be with her soon enough. It’s only a matter of time before they have a child.”
Besides, Lilith’s condition wasn’t terminal. Even if she needed cord blood, she could just have her own child to save herself.
“Not just anyone can marry into the Evernight family. If you mention divorce again within this month, you won’t get a single penny from me.”
“Think about it!”
The call ended. Aria, her face grim, stuffed the phone back into her pocket.
She couldn’t stand to wait another day for this divorce.
Aria sent a photo of the medical chart she had taken to her professor, pointing out the questionable details and explaining why she had missed their appointment.
Her only way out now was to get into her professor’s research institute.
She returned to Lilith’s room.
“I’ve arranged for the best targeted therapy drug to be sent over,” Gideon said, watching over Lilith’s bedside. “It will be here shortly.”
Aria had only seen the chart and couldn’t diagnose Lilith’s exact illness, but she was sure that early-stage cancer didn’t require targeted therapy.
It was too harsh on the body.
Seeing Lilith as a patient, her professional ethics made her unwilling to watch her harm her body with excessive treatment.
“She absolutely doesn’t need it,” Aria said coldly. “The doctors can perform another bone marrow biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.”
“Aria, what exactly do you want?” Flora stood up and pointed a finger at Aria’s face. “In your eyes, can Lilith never have anything good happen to her?”
Aria’s brow furrowed.
“That’s enough, Aria. I can judge what’s true and what isn’t.”
Gideon threw the signed divorce agreement on the floor.
“Henry, show her out.”
Aria didn’t get angry. She calmly bent down, picked up the agreement, and breathed a sigh of relief only after confirming his signature was on it.
A huge weight had finally been lifted from her shoulders.

The targeted therapy drug arrived quickly. A tiny vial cost five million dollars.
