After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 327

Gideon's gaze dropped to the elegant wedding invitation. He picked it up and flipped it open.

"I thought your engagement party was scheduled for next month. Why the sudden rush to the altar?"

Flora's engagement to Charles had been delayed repeatedly due to Lilith's declining health; Flora had always insisted on waiting until her best friend recovered. Now, Lilith was dead, her funeral hadn't even been scheduled, and Flora was suddenly in a rush to walk down the aisle?

Charles fell silent for a moment.

"This was a joint decision between Flora and me. The invitations have already been sent out. We aren't changing the date."

Charles then placed a thick folder of patent documents on the bed. "I came here with a genuine offer. If you drop the lawsuit against Roxanne, I'm willing to offer you a seventy-thirty split on these patents. You take seventy."

Gideon briefly glanced at the files. The patents were undoubtedly a goldmine, but at his level, money was just a number on a screen. He had only built Evercrest Prosperity Holdings to prove his capabilities to Aldous, not out of desperation for cash.

"I told you, Aria is handling Roxanne's situation. Furthermore, I'm on medical leave. If you want to discuss business, take it to Aria. She's running my company right now, which I'm sure you already know."

Charles clenched his jaw. If Aria had been willing to negotiate, he wouldn't be standing in this hospital room.

"You're in love with her," Charles said sharply. "Lilith just died, and you've already moved on to Aria."

"Why do all of you insist I was in love with Lilith?" Gideon snapped back. "I took care of her because..."

Gideon paused.

He had taken care of Lilith because they had known each other since childhood, and because of a promise he made to Ivy Wynn. When Lilith first moved back to the Rowan family, he hadn't interacted with her much, assuming her biological family would treat her well. But then she started fainting, and no one from the Rowan family seemed to care. He stepped in out of sheer pity and a sense of obligation. Nothing more.
