After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 51

“Charles, what are we going to do? If Aria and Dawn are that close, what about Lilith?”

Flora was starting to panic.

She had privately asked the doctor and learned that even without Dr. Dawn, regular treatment could still help Lilith make an almost full recovery.

But Gideon wanted Lilith to be completely cured, which left only two options: umbilical cord blood and Dawn.

Now, with Dawn and Aria on such good terms, and with the cord blood only obtainable if Aria had a child...

Charles gave Flora a reassuring pat on the back. “Wait here. I’m going to talk to Dr. Reaves now.”

Flora nodded frantically.

Hazel watched Charles leave before slowly getting up and sitting next to Flora. “Ms. Keene, do you remember me?”

Aria’s throat was parched from her presentation on stage. She finally found a moment to slip backstage for a drink of water.

“Aria, a lot of investors are interested in this research direction. Take a look.”

Professor Alden Reaves offered her a folder with a gentle smile.

“As it stands, my facility is still the most advanced research institute. Would you consider accepting an investment from the Evernight Group? That way, you could continue your research right here in my lab.”

“The Evernight Group is very interested in this study.”

Aria took a sip of water. “I’d like to review the other investors first.”

Professor Reaves didn’t know that she was married to Gideon, and Aria was well aware that the Evernight family had genetic issues.

But she wanted nothing more to do with them.

Aria’s hand, holding the cup, froze.

She *had* spoken up. It was just that no one had believed her.

Professor Reaves’s brow furrowed. “I didn’t see any problem with those medical records back then, either. Are you suggesting there’s something wrong with me, too?”

Aria hadn’t shown up on time that night, so Professor Reaves had gone directly to Lilith’s room and consulted with Charles.

And now Charles was blaming Aria, the one who had actually identified the issue?

“How can you be so unreasonable?”

Professor Reaves glanced at the silent Aria, a surge of irritation rising within him. He turned back to Charles. “Dawn is not Lilith’s attending physician. Why should he be responsible for her?”

“And you.” Professor Reaves looked at Aria. “Are you just going to stand there and not say a single word to defend yourself when you’re being falsely accused like this?”
