After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 66

“Shh! Don’t let Henry hear you.”

The other person let out a long sigh. “I miss Aria so much!”

Gideon pressed his lips together, then closed the door again.

Was Aria really that good?

Isn’t that what she was supposed to do?

So why couldn’t anyone else manage it?

Gideon pulled out his phone and sent Aria a text.

[Come back tonight.]

He scrolled up through their chat history. For a long time now, Aria had been meticulous about everything.

She sent him detailed information about his documents, his ironed suits, and his weekly dietary plan.

He, for the most part, never replied.

Now, when he texted her, she didn't reply instantly either.

Gideon thought for a moment, then sent another message.

[Didn’t you want to get a puppy before? I’ve agreed.]

Aria calmed herself down. When she saw Gideon’s text, she couldn’t make any sense of it.

What was wrong with him now?

She had thought it through. It didn't matter if she couldn't have children. She had already prepared for the worst when she participated in that clinical trial.

She had frozen her eggs long ago.

With technology so advanced, you could have a child even without a uterus.

She wasn’t keeping this child.

And she wasn’t keeping the uterus, either.

That way, Gideon would have no way to control her.

Her mind made up, Aria went to the grocery store, bought some ingredients, and went home. They were all iron-rich foods.

Once her hemoglobin levels were up, she would get the abortion.

She decided to treat this time as a gift, a bonus period to spend with her child.

Aria placed the last dish on the table, sat down, and began to eat.

The liver was smooth and delicious.

The aroma filled the air, and Gideon’s face darkened.

He walked over to Aria and tapped the table. “Where’s your respect? We’re supposed to dine as a family, yet you’re acting like a stranger in your own house.”

Aria grunted. “If you have something to say, say it.”

“Didn’t you see my messages?”

“I saw them. So what?” Aria didn’t even look up. “What do you want me to do?”

She knew Gideon wasn’t aware she was pregnant, but the thought that she couldn’t even protect her own child while he condescendingly agreed to let her have a dog made her seethe.

“Aria, what is this attitude?” Eveline slammed her hand on the table and scoffed. “Gideon came home early and has been perfectly polite to you. Don’t push your luck!”

Aria devoured her food in a flash.

She could let anyone else go hungry, but not herself.

She was eating for two now, even if the other person was still just an embryo.

“I’m finished. You two can help yourselves.” Aria glanced at Gideon, whose lips were pressed into a thin line. “Or did you think I cooked to please you?”
