Gideon's expression was grim. "What do you need me to do?"
The Evernight family had no doctor on staff. The only person with any real clinical experience was Aria.
He really had no other choice.
Eveline couldn't believe Gideon was just trusting Aria like that.
"Aria! If anything happens to Aldous, can you handle the consequences?"
Eveline was usually quite arrogant, but she had lived with the patriarch for so long that she had come to see him as family.
Besides, he was her greatest backer.
She couldn't let anything happen to him.
The shouting was giving Aria a headache. "Get her out of here. She's just getting in the way."
Gideon waved a hand. "Mom, go get some rest."
Two servants half-supported, half-dragged Eveline away.
"I'm not leaving! I'm staying right here!"
Aria scoffed. "Then keep quiet!"
Eveline was indignant, but seeing the warning in Gideon's eyes, she finally fell silent.
Aria located Aldous Evernight's pressure points, and the acupuncture needles swiftly pierced his skin.
After a few needles, his breathing stabilized, but he didn't wake up.
A fine layer of sweat broke out on Aria's forehead.
This was her first time performing this procedure on a live person. Although she had memorized the locations, she couldn't be sure when it would take effect.
Gideon subtly sized Aria up.
She was slender, but her eyes were incredibly bright.
Gideon's jaw clenched tightly. "His pulse feels steady. The ambulance will be here soon."
Aria was completely focused and didn't hear a word Gideon said.
She inserted the final needle near the base of Aldous Evernight's neck.
Aldous Evernight's breathing quickened, and after about ten seconds, he slowly opened his eyes.
