"It's nothing. I don't know him well." Aria broke free from Gideon's grip and said goodbye to Mira. "It's getting late. Get home safe."
Mira nodded. She could sense the unusual atmosphere between the two and didn't ask any more questions before hailing a cab and leaving.
"Don't know me well?" Gideon sneered. "We're married."
Aria's expression was calm. "Weren't you the one who said you didn't want anyone to know about our relationship?"
She was just obediently following his own instructions. What was he so angry about now?
Gideon took a few deep breaths, grabbed Aria's hand, and pushed her into the car. "So now you're being obedient? Fine. Then I'm telling you now, I want everyone to know about our relationship."
"I don't want to," Aria said slowly. "I don't want anyone to know about my relationship with you at all."
It was all because Charles was back, wasn't it? Back then, she couldn't wait to announce it to the world, and now she wanted to hide it.
"Charles is getting engaged next month."
Gideon said abruptly, then started the car.
Aria just said, "Oh."
What did that have to do with her?
But in Gideon's eyes, her reaction looked like heartbreak.
Gideon kept pressing down on the accelerator, his mood foul.
"Hazel is holding a seminar tomorrow. Even if the drug isn't produced, she'll still make a huge splash."
Aria frowned. "Hazel only has one test subject. How could she possibly be ready so soon?"
"Lilith has a sensitive system, and she's fine after taking the drug. So, of course, other people will be fine too."
"Once Lilith's condition stabilizes, it'll be Charles's turn to take the drug, and his hand can heal. It'll all be thanks to Hazel. I'm sure neither the Brent family nor the Keene Group will treat her poorly."
