Chapter 109

Chapter 109

Adam knew it was pointless to reason with Rosalie when she was this emotional.

Suppressing his irritation, he forced his voice into a soothing tone. “Don’t take every rumor so seriously. This is just Jason trying to stir up trouble.”

Rosalie lifted her head from his shoulder, her face clouding with anger. “He’s gone too far this time.”

Then it came back to her that Jason had mentioned giving Adam a gift. So this was his idea of a present.

She thought bitterly, ‘What kind of son pulls a stunt like this on his own parents?’

“I’m going to find him right now,” she said, pulling away. “He needs to set the record straight and apologize to you.”

Jason had blocked her number, forcing her to confront him face-to-face. A verbal scolding wouldn’t come close to satisfying her anger.

Adam had been waiting for exactly that. “Go,” he said flatly. “Forget an apology. Just make him set the record straight.

“Otherwise, neither of us will be able to show our faces in this town again.”

The damage was already done, but cleaning up what they could still mattered.

The thought of becoming the laughingstock of their circle made Adam’s blood boil. He wanted to throttle Jason himself.

“Also,” he added, “find out who he’s been running with lately. This isn’t his usual style.”

Jason had always fought the Farrell Group openly, outbidding them on projects, competing in plain sight.

This underhanded move was something new, a low blow that had caught them completely off guard.

“Someone’s feeding him ideas,” Adam concluded. “Find out who.”

Rosalie gave a sharp nod. “I’ll handle it.”

Today, she was going to make sure Jason regretted this, and she’d make certain he stayed away from the wrong crowd on top of it.

Without another word, she turned and marched out, her heels clicking sharply against the floor.

Adam had his secretary quietly usher the sobbing assistant out, then turned to Victor. “Leave it to your stepmother. She’ll deal with it.”

It was better for Victor to stay clear. Rosalie would make sure the assistant paid. There was no need for either of them to get their hands dirty.

Still, losing a useful pawn was a setback.

Victor nodded. “Understood.”

Chapter 109

He had no desire to deal with the woman directly. Letting Rosalie handle it was cleaner.

What troubled him now was how to explain things to his fiancée.

This wouldn’t stay quiet. Jason would make sure of that.

He’d once considered using Alicia to turn the Hammond family against Jason.

Now, Jason had beaten him to the punch, digging a hole so deep Victor was still struggling to climb out.

He wouldn’t forget this. When the time came, he’d return the favor.

The scandal spread like wildfire through the upper echelons of society.

When Kevin caught wind of the headlines, he muttered under his breath, ‘Jason’s truly gone off the deep

end.’

He had asked Adam to convince Jason to pull the trending topics, but instead, Jason had turned the tables and thrust Adam and Victor into the viral spotlight.

Kevin decided then that his sister could no longer be allowed anywhere near a man who would sabotage his own family without hesitation.

Without delay, he phoned Maxwell and instructed him to inform Alicia.

Maxwell and Nicolas had just wrapped up their livestream and were heading to their rooms when the call came through.

After hanging up, Maxwell pulled up the trending list and let out a low whistle.

“Damn, Jason really went nuclear,” he said, showing his phone to Nicolas. “Most families try to bury their scandals. He’s broadcasting his for the whole world to see.”

Nicolas scanned the headlines, his expression darkening. “The man’s completely unhinged.”

Just then, they noticed Alicia emerging from a nearby practice room.

“Wait until she’s alone,” Nicolas said quietly. “Then tell her.”

Maxwell gave a tight nod. “Okay.”

They trailed Alicia discreetly until she entered an elevator by herself. Slipping in after her, Maxwell didn’t waste a second.

“Alicia, there’s something you need to see,” he said, thrusting his phone toward her before she could refuse. “Look what Jason’s done now.”

Alicia glanced at the screen, then handed the phone back with a dismissive flick. “I already know.”

Maxwell stared, momentarily thrown. “So you agree he’s taken it too far, right?

“A madman like that, you should really stay away. Kevin and the rest of us are worried he’s a bad influence.”

He couldn’t help wondering if Jason was the reason Alicia had grown so cold toward them lately.
