Chapter 113
Hearing his tone, Alicia knew immediately. He was about to tell her everything.
She chuckled softly. “Your mother was so visibly rattled, and you basically told her handing this over to Adam would end their marriage.
“So I’m guessing this evidence… it has to do with Victor’s mother, doesn’t it?
“Adam might be a terrible person in every other way, but his love for her was real.
“That’s always been his bottom line.”
Alicia had heard the stories about how Adam had been willing to give up his Farrell family inheritance, even his own life, for Victor’s mother.
It explained why he would later neglect his other sons in favor of the one she bore him.
“Did Rosalie do something to her?” Alicia paused, piecing it together. “Maybe… something connected to her death?”
That would certainly be a line Adam could never forgive.
Jason’s expression shifted to genuine surprise. “You’re way too sharp. You didn’t just guess. You almost got the whole story.”
Alicia tilted her chin up playfully. “I’ve always been the clever one.”
Then her tone softened with curiosity. “So it’s true, then? Rosalie was involved in her death?”
Even with her suspicion, she was still intrigued by the specifics. Everyone loves a bit of dark gossip, after
all.
Jason began recounting the past. “Years ago, the man Victor’s mother loved suddenly ended things with her.
“Soon after, he announced his engagement overseas and held a very public wedding.
“At the time, everyone believed he had betrayed her.
“Heartbroken, she accepted Adam’s proposal, but soon fell into a deep depression.
“Things improved after Victor was born, especially with Adam’s constant devotion.
“But then one day, she learned the truth.
“Her former lover had been terminally ill. To spare her the pain of watching him die, he staged the breakup and even the marriage.
“Not long after she married Adam, he passed away.
“He left behind a diary, filled with memories of their love, his regrets, and his hope that she would find happiness without him.

Chapter 113
“My mother got her hands on that diary. She arranged for it to be discreetly passed through several intermediaries before finally reaching Victor’s mother.
“She had never truly moved on. Reading those pages broke her. Not long after, she died quietly of what people called a broken heart.
“Adam took revenge on everyone directly involved in delivering the diary, but he never traced it back to my mother. She had covered her tracks too well.
“Her death shattered Adam. He withdrew for years, and the Farrell team nearly collapsed during that time.
“That’s when my mother stepped in, used her family’s resources to stabilize the company, and eventually secured her place as his wife.”
“I never would have guessed that’s how it all happened,” Alicia murmured, genuinely taken aback.
If that was the case, then Rosalie was ultimately the one who led to Victor’s mother’s untimely death.
Had she never learned the truth, she might still be alive today.
If Adam ever discovered what Rosalie had done, he wouldn’t simply divorce her. He would make sure she suffered.
He had pursued Victor’s mother for over a decade, finally won her over, and was just beginning to earn her affection when Rosalie’s interference took her from him forever.
The depth of his hatred would be unimaginable.
“In a strange way,” Alicia remarked dryly, “they’re actually perfect for each other. Maybe they should just stay together. Save everyone else the trouble.”
Rumors had long suggested that Adam used underhanded methods to marry Victor’s mother in the first place.
It wasn’t hard to wonder whether her former lover’s sudden illness and departure had been entirely coincidental.
And Adam married Rosalie for her connections, while she clawed her way up using him right back.
What truly tied them together, though, was their shared obsession with love. In a twisted sense, they deserved each other.
Jason nodded slowly. “Honestly, it’s better this way. Keep them contained so they don’t go around wrecking anyone else’s life.”
But now wasn’t the time to hand the evidence over to Adam.
Jason needed to be fully prepared to ensure both Adam and Victor were completely dismantled before making his move.
Acting out of impulse would be foolish, which was precisely why he had used the information to pressure his mother rather than taking it directly to Adam.
Still, the truth would come out one day. He was almost curious to see what two broken, love-obsessed
