Chapter 242
She could hear the footsteps getting closer.
They both dropped the subject, working together seamlessly, without needing to say a word
The crew finally found them, and when they saw neither of them was seriously hurt, they all breathed a sigh of relief.
“Are you two alright?” one of them asked.
Alicia stood up and rubbed her arm. “My legs and arms are a bit sore from the fall, but I’m fine otherwise.”
She only had a few scrapes on her exposed arms.
Jett had scrapes on his hands and feet, and he was still limping a bit as he walked.
“I’m fine too,” he said.
Marley wasn’t taking any chances-he called the crew and told them to make sure Alicia and Jett got down the mountain safely and take them to the hospital just in case.
Alicia and Jett didn’t object-they’d already gotten what they wanted today.
Back at the hospital, Mrs. Moore walked in through the doors.
Mr. Moore glanced over and asked, “Did you find them?”
Mrs. Moore looked worried. “No, I couldn’t find them. They said no one’s picking up, so we’ll just have to wait.”
She told her husband everything she’d found out in Greenpeak Village.
Mr. Moore frowned. “How much longer do we have to wait?”
But worrying wouldn’t help if they couldn’t get through to anyone anyway.
He asked, “Did you manage to get the evidence?”
Mrs. Moore nodded. “Yeah, I got everything.”
Her trip to Greenpeak Village wasn’t just about getting Nicole to spill who mixed the drugs- she was also there to dig up proof that Nicole had drugged her son.
She managed to get her hands on the bottle Nicole had tossed, with Nicole’s fingerprints on
Chapter 212
Before she even started talking to Nicole, she’d already slipped a recorder into her bag.
Nicole admitted to drugging her son, explained how she tried to blame Jett, and everything Jett said was recorded too.
She’d also made a copy of the video from her son’s livestream that night.
She let out a cold snort. “If I didn’t need to figure out who actually mixed the drugs, I would’ve had Nicole locked up already.”
Nicole wanted to be a rich heiress or a wealthy wife, huh?
She’d just love to see which respectable family would ever let someone with a criminal record like Nicole marry into their family.
Right now, she was holding back only because she still hoped her son could be cured.
Everyone in their circle knew Jett was head over heels for Nicole, and he could get whatever he wanted from her.
Plus, Jett was the one who gave her the drugs. If she went to the cops about Nicole, Jett would get caught up in it too.
It wasn’t that she was afraid of Jett’s family, but she worried that if she reported it now, she’d never find out who actually mixed the drugs.
If that happened, her son’s last hope would be gone for good.
But no matter what-whether she found out who mixed the drugs or not, whether her son ever got better or not-Nicole was never getting away with it.
If she managed to track down the person who mixed the drugs and her son got back to normal, she’d let Jett off the hook.
But if she couldn’t find the culprit, or if her son never recovered, Jett wouldn’t get away with it either.
Mr. Moore nodded. “Hang on to the evidence. We might need it later.”
Just then, Mrs. Moore got a message from the person keeping tabs on Nicole.
She frowned. “Nicole quit the show and flew back to the city by herself.
“She didn’t even wait for Jett-just left him behind.”
She turned to her husband. “Looks like we need to make sure she doesn’t slip away.”
