There were three matches in the fighting competition that morning.
The least anticipated among them, and the one many believed would have the least suspense, was the third match.
After all, Dominic Sloan was incredibly strong, and he’d already killed several opponents.
"Last time, Dominic Sloan almost made it out, didn’t he?
It’s a shame he got beaten by that guy... Yan, or something."
"I heard he was forced to expend a lot of his Superpower before the match, which is why he lost."
"Right. It’s not that easy to get out of here. There are so many masters in this place..."
"..."
Amidst the murmurs of the crowd, Nina Jacobs walked onto the stage.
This time, she once again saw Ms. Carter from the registration office in the same spot as yesterday.
Nina Jacobs didn’t pay it any mind, assuming she was just there to watch the match.
Her opponent stood across from her, head bowed.
He didn’t speak, provoke, or even observe.
The moment the whistle blew, he launched a fierce attack!
Nina Jacobs saw the Metal Threads between his fingers.
SWOOSH.
The Metal Threads shot toward her in unison, their other ends tipped with fine metal needles.
The fighting ring’s railing was right behind Nina Jacobs; it seemed there was no escape.
A Stone Shield instantly materialized and blocked the attack in front of her.
The Metal Threads scraped against the Stone Shield, audaciously trying to slice through it.
"Don’t you guys forget, he shredded dozens of Stone Shields from the last Earth Element Superpower User.
This Stone Shield looks just as basic."
Hearing the chatter, a young man next to Harlan laughed.
"What do you think? I think we should loan you our team’s Dominic Sloan.
His cutting speed is probably much faster than your scalpel, right?
Maybe he could even slice you up a plate of meat in an instant."
The man had slightly long black hair and still-wet bloodstains on his face. He spoke to Harlan in a mocking tone.
"Let’s talk after he wins."
Harlan had just arrived at the arena, and he looked to be in a very bad mood.
"Is there any suspense in this match? Your Team 1..."
The black-haired man’s words caught in his throat.
On the stage, Dominic Sloan was tugging desperately at his Metal Threads.
Across from him, Nina Jacobs’s Stone Shield had transformed into a shield of sand. The sand was fine, with a vortex at its center that was already ensnaring his Metal Threads. The suction force grew so strong he had no choice but to sever them.
With a series of slicing sounds, Nina Jacobs waved her hand, dismissing the shield of sand.
Severed segments of the threads fluttered down from mid-air to the ground.
Dominic Sloan stared at his ruined threads, his expression turning ugly.
But he still quickly materialized a long blade and swung it down at Nina Jacobs!
BANG!
Nina Jacobs noticed the long blade could change its length at will.
’This Dominic Sloan is a quick thinker. He knows I’m good at using sand, so he changed his attack strategy.’
’But...’
Just as the long blade was about to touch Nina Jacobs, a sand shield appeared before her.
The long blade chopped down on the sand shield, creating a grating sound.
Nina Jacobs narrowed her eyes. Every one of Dominic Sloan’s moves was a killing blow.
’I need to end this quickly.’
Nina Jacobs didn’t want to exchange any more blows, because she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from killing him.
The sand shield in front of her suddenly reversed, transforming into hundreds of spinning Stone Spikes. The long blade was shredded once again, and Dominic Sloan found he had no time to retract it.
It was too fast.
The Stone Spikes were already upon him. He hastily materialized a Metal Shield.
But the moment it touched a single Stone Spike, he felt his Metal Shield start to dent.
"Surrender. I won’t kill you," Nina Jacobs said.
But her opponent gritted his teeth and refused. "I will do whatever it takes to kill you here, and then I will walk out of this place."
This was his seventh match.
He had won all his previous matches. Three more wins, and he could get out of here.
Nina Jacobs fell silent for a moment.
She had to get out of here too.
And she certainly wasn’t going to accommodate anyone who had nothing to do with her.
BANG!
The Metal Shield was shattered into pieces by the Stone Spikes, and Dominic Sloan’s body was knocked out of the ring.
Seeing that he was about to fall out of bounds, Dominic Sloan gritted his teeth and materialized Metal Threads to grip the railing tightly.
Then he swiftly launched a counterattack against Nina Jacobs.
"Then kill me!"
As he finished speaking, threads of metal rapidly spread across the entire stage.
