Julia Hughes touched her nose.
She found her hand covered in blood.
Her expression twisted in fear.
On the way back to Whittaker Town with her father, Jasper Paxton had started bleeding from his nose right after drinking the zombie-virus-laced juice.
She had been hiding on the stairs at the time and had seen everything clearly.
"Julia, what happened to you... Did Brock scratch you?!"
Arcadia White covered her mouth, tears instantly welling up in her eyes.
"No, Mom, he didn’t."
Julia Hughes shook her head. "Brock just thought the juice was disgusting and coughed it in my face... COUGH, COUGH!"
As Julia Hughes spoke, she started coughing, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood that trickled down her chin and onto her pristine white dress.
’Juice... splashed on her face...’
Arcadia White understood everything in an instant.
’My daughter was the one who turned Brock White into a zombie!’
’The juice splashing on her face caused the infection because she already had an unhealed cut on it!’
"Why didn’t you just listen...
Didn’t I tell you not to do things like this anymore?"
Arcadia White cried. She wanted to go to her daughter and wash her face, but seeing her vomiting mouthfuls of blood, she was overcome with despair.
"Mom... Mom, save me! It... it hurts so much, WAAAH."
Julia Hughes never knew turning into a zombie would be this painful.
It was a thousand times more painful than when Brock White had scratched her face.
Gradually, a tearing pain spread throughout her body, causing her to writhe uncontrollably on the floor.
She tried to reach out for her mother, but Arcadia White just stared at her, her face filled with terror.
Then, Arcadia White bolted out the door.
By now, the sky had grown completely dark.
"Someone, help! Anyone... Husband, Julia... WAAAH..."
Arcadia White was filled with immense regret. She regretted not stopping her daughter more forcefully, regretted indulging her as she harmed others.
She had thought the situation in the manor was completely under control.
But Arcadia White found the courtyard littered with bodies.
People were running and screaming in a panic before being viciously pounced upon and devoured by zombies.
Among the zombies were Raymond White, Laura Quincy, and many of the White Family’s uncles and aunts...
"It’s over... The White Family is finished..."
Arcadia White mumbled.
Amid the chaos, she saw Nina Jacobs, with Wayne Warner still following behind her.
"Nina Jacobs, Nina Jacobs...
Julia’s turning into a zombie! Waaah, please, you have to save her."
As if clutching at a final straw, Arcadia White scrambled toward her.
Nina Jacobs’s expression, however, showed no surprise.
"You mean... Julia was playing another one of her pranks?"
Nina Jacobs asked with a smile.
’A prank...’
Arcadia White was about to retort but then remembered those were her own words from before.
"It was just a prank. Next time...
Oh, wait. It seems there won’t be a next time."
Nina Jacobs said with a laugh.
"Nina Jacobs! Are you trying to betray your masters with words like that?!"
Arcadia White finally realized something was wrong.
Nina Jacobs had clearly arrived, yet she had no intention of saving anyone.
"You’ve misunderstood. I came to Whittaker Town to find the remaining supplies."
Nina Jacobs said.
’The remaining supplies?’
’Could it be that the supplies that went missing from the base before were also related to her?’
"Impossible! You alone?
There’s no way you could find the White Family’s things so easily.
And don’t even think about walking out of here alive!"
Arcadia White didn’t believe a word Nina Jacobs said. In a little while, the elite forces raised by the White Family would arrive, and Flynn White too...
’Her plan hadn’t even started yet. Nina Jacobs was supposed to be a puppet dancing in the palm of their hands!’
