I thought back to my meeting with Zain. Convincing him to agree to my request had been no easy feat. After all, the man was a genius, and convincing him to work with me had taken more than a simple conversation.

He’d set conditions—specifically, that he’d need to check my body to confirm I had been exposed to CR-06 wolfsbane, as I claimed.

He wasn’t about to get involved in something without being sure of the facts, and I respected that about him. We had set a time to meet again after he prepared the necessary equipment.
