Chapter 103
Elle’s POV
I stared at the three glasses Marissa had placed before us, my heart pounding with dread. The dark liquid looked innocent enough, but
everything about this situation screamed danger.
“What kind of sick game is this?” I demanded, though my voice came out shakier than I intended.
Marissa’s smile was cold and calculating. “Just a little toast, Elle. You drink with us, and then you get your precious mother back.”
I glanced at the glasses, then at Jason, who seemed equally confused but eager to get this over with. Something’s wrong with this. Everything about Marissa screams trap. But what choice did I have? Mom’s life hung in the balance.

“Fine,” I said through gritted teeth. “But after this, we make the exchange immediately.”
I picked up the glass, knowing full well it was probably drugged or poisoned. I know this drink is probably dangerous, but I really don’t have
a choice. I’m sick of looking at these two disgusting faces.
When I saw Marissa’s eyes light up with obvious joy as I lifted the glass to my lips, my suspicions were confirmed. But I downed it in one gulp anyway. Jason, oblivious to any danger, knocked back his drink as well. Marissa, looking satisfied that we’d both drunk, raised her own glass and drained it with a triumphant expression.
I waited for something to happen, but… nothing. The liquid tasted like water. What the hell? This wine… has no taste? Just water? Has Marissa become so poor she can’t even afford real alcohol?
“Alright,” I said coldly, cutting through their confusion. “We’ve had our drink. Time for the exchange.”
The driver pushed two cases of money forward, and Mom quickly moved to receive them. But just as the transaction was about to complete, Jason’s demeanor completely changed. His friendly mask slipped away, replaced by a cruel smirk.
“Wait a minute!” he sneered. “Did I say I was going to let you leave here alive?”
My blood ran cold. “Jason, what are you doing? We had an agreement!”
“An agreement?” Jason laughed harshly. “Are you kidding me? If I let you two walk out of here, Marissa and I probably won’t make it out of Moonshade Bay alive! But if you’re both dead… well, then we don’t have to worry about that.”
I never imagined Jason had become this brutal! He wants to kill me and Susan!
“Jason, I can stay behind,” I said desperately, my mind racing. “Let my mother go! I’ll be your hostage – you can demand more money! I’m
worth more than she is!”

Mom’s eyes filled with tears. “Elle, no! You can’t do this for me! Elle, you actually are-
“Enough!” Marissa snapped, cutting Mom off before she could finish. “I’m sick of this touching mother-daughter scene! Elle, neither you nor your mother is leaving here today!”
Marissa’s eyes had taken on a gleeful, almost manic look, as if everything was going according to some twisted plan.

Suddenly, Jason staggered, his face flushing red. “What’s… what’s happening to me?” He looked at Marissa in disbelief, his body obviously
heating up.
The driver immediately stepped protectively in front of me, shielding me from Jason’s increasingly erratic behavior.
But then Marissa gasped, her own face flushing as heat seemed to hit her too. She looked panicked, desperate.
“Why aren’t you affected?” Marissa screamed at me, her composure-completely shattered. “When did someone switch the drinks?”
I stared at them both, pieces clicking into place. Looking at Marissa and Jason’s condition, they’re clearly drugged. So the drugged wine was meant for me, but somehow Marissa drank it herself?
The realization hit me like a truck.
“Jason, now’s your chance!” Marissa shouted through her drug-induced haze. “Take Elle! Rape her! Brad cares most about her purity!”
Jason’s eyes locked onto me with frightening intensity, the drugs fully taking hold.
“Don’t come near me!” I screamed, backing toward the door. “Or I swear I’ll kill myself!”
I absolutely cannot let Jason defile me! I won’t let him touch me!
“Brad,” I whispered unconsciously, then louder: “Brad… Brad Rayne…”
I didn’t even realize I was calling his name. In the face of danger, I’ve unconsciously made Brad my spiritual anchor and support.
“Brad, where are you?!” I screamed desperately. “Save me!”
My mismatched eyes blazed with terror as I pressed myself against the door. The driver was fighting off other thugs and couldn’t reach
If no one comes soon, I’m really going to lose everything.
Jason was half-undressed now, completely consumed by the drugs. I was trapped at the door with nowhere left to run.

“Jason, don’t come any closer, or I’ll die right here!” I threatened, pulling out the silver hairpin Brad had given me and pressing its sharp point against my throat.

This silver hairpin from Brad is sharp enough – it’ll do the job.

Jason was only three meters away now, his body obviously about to explode from the drugs. I pressed the pin harder against my neck.
Mom collapsed to her knees, sobbing. No, Elle, don’t-
But before she could finish, Marissa, also drugged and barely coherent, shoved her to the ground.
A tear slipped down my cheek. I might not be able to protect my baby…
*Baby, I’m sorry. Mommy can’t protect you anymore.
I pressed the hairpin against my throat, ready to end everything.
Just then, a strong hand appeared out of nowhere and grabbed my wrist.
The next second, my back pressed against a familiar, warm, broad chest.
“Elle,” Brad’s voice was gentle yet dangerous. “So you were calling for me. How could I possibly disappoint you?”
His amber eyes glowed dangerously. “Relax… I’m here… No one can hurt you or my child.”
I felt Brad’s powerful arms encircle me, and I knew I was safe.

The readers' comments on the novel: After One Night with the Alpha (Brad and Elle)
Not sure how the story ended without completing the circle on what happened to Sophia and Lester. That loop was just left hanging... what happened with the Blair contract of having to married Raymond? All Eleanor wanted was a piece of Rayne industries?...
